The first character of our tale is Thunder Marshall, oddly named I admit. Thunder is engaged to Richard Harris, her boyfriend of nine years ever since they were her, fifteen and him, sixteen.

Thunder and Richard have it all worked out, everything of nothing planned and happy, usually at least.

“Morning baby girl, what we doing today? We’re both off for the day, have the house to ourselves…..” Richard greeted his beautiful, bronze skinned, long legged wife to be.

“I can see where your mind’s going you pervert. I was thinking……..we should go out for today, go exploring, hiking, something different” Thunder smiled widely at her fiancé, opening her dark brown almost black eyes extra wide, knowing he could never turn her down with that look on her face.

“That’s so unfair Thunder”, he whined, “you know I’m gonna say yes when you look at me like that” he sighed, ultimately giving in to his mate’s desires. Defeated though he was, Richard was a stubborn creature.

“What about my plan though? We can still maybe execute that one ‘til the other is figured out” he said wiggling his bushy eyebrows, gazing hopefully at his future wife with the sun twinkling in his hazel brown eyes. And with that the power in the room shifted to the male’s team with the sly nod of the head from Thunder.

About a love-making and a shower later, the two sat down to breakfast ready to determine what their day would entail.

“Well I say we wing it today. Go driving around and whatever strikes our attention we go to” Richard suggested.

“Well I say we actually plan what we’re doing for once”, Thunder sighed,” what do you have against planning Richard? it wouldn’t kill you.” She whispered the ending sadly.

This was an ongoing issue between them. It’s the reason they haven’t married yet with Richard never sitting down with Thunder to decide a date for the official joining of the two.

“Because I don’t think that anything in life needs to be thought over and decided on, whatever is meant to be will be baby girl remember that”

“Yeah like our wedding right?” she spat.

“Thunder, don’t ruin this day baby come here” he reached out to hug her but she stormed away leaving her breakfast to get cold and her fiancé in a rut.

She tried to keep her anger suppressed but Richard constantly used this ‘que sera sera’ line to excuse any and everything, never once taking responsibility for not remembering that job interview he had or the package Thunder needed delivered etc etc.  To him that’s just the way God wanted it to happen.

Warming up her food and growing a pair, Richard walked or more tip toed to the door of their bedroom where Thunder sat enraged in the chair beside the bed. Arms folded with her dark, curly hair falling to over her face to hide the unwanted tears she shed against her will.

He knocked cautiously on the door knowing the rage Thunder could fly into sometimes.

“What do you want” she stammered, trying hard to conceal the shaky voice that accompanied the waterworks.

“You didn’t finish breakfast” he said almost shyly not wanting to upset her any further.

Richard opened the door slowly and peeked in spotting Thunder standing by the window now, backing her fiancé as she was a proud woman and didn’t want him to see her cry. He rested the tray on the bed and walked up behind her, resting his hands gently on her waist and turning her ‘round to face him. Between them, they didn’t always need to talk. Sometimes they could just look in the other’s eyes and know what they wanted to say but couldn’t out loud. Thunder looked up into her fiancé’s eyes and then at his face, his expression revealing his discomfort and disappointment with the situation and himself. She studied his face, his features illuminated by the sun rays, going from his bushy eyebrows to his beautiful hazel eyes to his small perfectly placed nose and his pronounced cheek bones and his chiselled almost childlike face.
