CHAPTER THIRTEEN - TWO MONTHS LATER

{STEVEN}

it has now been two months since the passing of my beloved grandmother. I don't think I'll ever be able to cope with my loss. I've become completely numb to all my emotions, over than sadness and anger.

fleur has since moved out and we don't talk unless it's completely necessary.

I came home from the park, then called fleur. "b-babe, would you like to come with me to the beach? I- I need to get a few things off my chest."

"yeah sure. pick me up in fifteen minutes." she said, and with that, I hung up. I sighed, placing the phone on my flat stomach.

I arrived to fleur's apartment building. I honked, she opened her door and ran over to the car. she got in, slamming the passenger door. "why are you acting so unusual?" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

"sorry..I just-we need to go." I said, speeding off. fleur pressed herself onto the seat tightly, she was beyond afraid. I removed one hand from the steering wheel and slowed down, holding her hand and squeezing it a little. "I missed this.." she whispered.

"I did too, babe."

we walked down the cold dampened sand, letting it run between our toes. I loved this feeling, I'll miss it... we then stopped, admiring the sound of waves crashing onto the shoreline. I brought her close to me, kissing her slowly. I wanted time to stop and let me be with her forever.. but that can't happen.

I pulled away, she looked up and batted her lashes. I felt a lump in my throat start to form, tears threatened to spill. I simply began to walk, she followed. I found myself standing waist deep in the ocean, I stood there and let the waves collide onto my body.

she just looked at me, trying to understand everything and trying to soak it all in. she too knew. but neither me or her wanted to admit it, we couldn't grasp it.

"fleur, I- I love you."

"I know this may be sudden. it might not make sense, then again, life doesn't make sense. I- I love you and I'm sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear. I fell for you when I met you. your eyes tell a story and I wanna be apart of that story."

"w-why are you saying these words." she asked.

her tears blending into the water. "I'm moving." I admitted.
