I was wiping down the last table in the diner when my phone rang. Drying my right hand on my apron I pull my iPhone 6 out of my pants pocket, while holding the right in my other hand. Looking at the caller ID I realize it's my mother calling. Usually she doesn't call at this time because she knows I'm still working; the diner closes at 10pm and it's only 9:47pm, so whatever se has to say it must be important.

Swiping my thumb across the screen I quickly put the phone to my ear as I continue to clean the table with disinfectant. I have to make this call quick because I still need to throw the trash and if I don't Bobby will be vary mad for leaving the trash out.

My mothers panicked voice erupting in my ears made me a little worried.

"Honey," she began, "after you get off work come straight over here, there is something going on tomorrow night at the town hall." A little curious I couldn't help but ask, "OK, what is it?" I intended to sound curious but concern laced into my voice. "Just come over after you clock out, I'll tell you when you get here okay?" She stated impatiently. "Okay mom. See you soon, love you."

"See you soon, love you too, bye." With that I removed the phone from my ear and tapped the red end call button on my phone and slipped it back into my pants pocket. After cleaning the table and flipping the chairs, I went to the back to save the disinfectant spray and rag. Going back in the front I grabbed the trash bag that sat inside the trash bin and glanced around the diner one last time to make sure I cleaned it well enough, then went walk outside to the back of the diner and toss the trash in the dumpster. Walking back in the diner I look under the counter and grab a trash bag to put in the empty bin. After I do that I head to the restroom to clean myself up. Afterwards, I walk behind the counter to take off my apron and put it in one of the shelves under it. Glancing up at the clock I notice I have three minutes left until closing time so I shut off the lights and the sign light outside that reads Bobby's Diner in blue and white. Grabbing the diner keys I walk out the front of the restaurant and lock the door behind me. I pull out my phone and notice that it's ten o'clock in the dot. Damn that's perfect timing. Smiling at myself I begin my walk to my parents house, I should really get a car. It's dangerous walking outside by yourself at this time of night. I know I'll be fine, my father gave me self-defense lessons, but deep down inside I'm still afraid.

Ten minutes later I'm walking up the steps of my parents' house. It's not a big house, but it's not small either. The inside is decorated in a way that feels like home, which is a reason why I love going to my parents' house. Another reason is my mother's cooking. I mean who doesn't love their mother's cooking? Especially when she makes your most favorite desserts every time you visit. Though, I can't visit often because of work and school, but I call every night before I go to bed. Unlocking the door with my key I step inside because who knocks on their parents' door? "Mom, Dad, I'm home!" I yell while dropping my keys in the little key holder on the side of the door. I was taking off my shoes and setting them under the table when I heard my mom yell, "We're in the kitchen, Alex!"

So I begin my long journey from the front door to the kitchen. Okay... maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit about the long journey but I'm tired and my feet hurt. I walk through the kitchen door and see my parents sitting at the island waiting patiently for me. "So, what did you need to tell me?" I ask as I sit on the stool across from them. They're both looking at me with worry evident in their features. Of course being me I think of the worst scenarios that they can possible tell me. What they actually said was way worse than what I was thinking. "Alex-" my mom begins but is cut off by my dad. "Werewolves are coming to town and their alpha is looking for his mate." I was shocked after my dad said that. I'm not really one who is too fond of werewolves. It's not that I don't like them it's just that I try my hardest to keep my distance from them because they are really scary creatures. They're hot but scary. "We're not sure what time of exactly when they will arrive tomorrow, but all girls in the town will be going to the town hall so the alpha can pick out his mate." mom stated.

Sitting there I slowly process their words and begin to realize that I have no chance with an alpha, hell I barely I have a chance with a human boy let alone a werewolf, and an alpha at that. I guess I'm just not pretty enough. So I tell my parents how I feel, but, of course I leave the part out where I basically insult myself, and I can tell they relaxed a little bit.

After our little talk I head up to my old room because I didn't feel like walking all the way to my apartment because it's late and I'm tired. And also very lazy. Being that it's Friday I have no classes scheduled tomorrow, so I have to open the diner at 8am. The high school students have no school tomorrow so it'll be a very busy day. I'm going to need as much rest as possible. Taking my phone out of my pocket I set my alarm for 7:30am and put it in my night stand. I still have clothes here for when I want to spend the night so I grab a t-shirt out the dresser and throw it on. I don't like sleeping with pants on because it makes me feel like I'm trapped so I just take my pants off and slip under the covers in only my underwear and a t-shirt and quickly fall asleep.
