THE NEXT DAY
Sophie's POV
Waking up, I opened my eyes slowly and then immediately squinted them as I was greeted with sunlight beaming in through two large windows near my bed. Coming to my senses, I quickly looked around and realized I wasn't in my own room.
Still confused, I sat up slowly and immediately felt a pounding in my head and a lurching in my stomach. I looked down and saw I was wearing a huge white Nike t shirt. I rubbed my eyes and looked around the room. My eyes landed on my dress, laid carefully over a beige sofa and my heels tucked neatly on the floor next to it. It was then the memories of last night flooded back into my head. Oh my God. How drunk was I? How did I let myself get that drunk? And Mariana? Where was she? Was she ok? I remember I had left her with a babysitter but I couldn't remember much after that. How did I get home? I started to remember bits from last night, dancing with Pepe, dancing with Cris... Oh! Cris! He took me home.
I quickly got out of bed and rushed out of the room. I realized we were in a big hotel suite. I walked through a few rooms before I found the living room. I smelled food, and following my traces, found a big tray of breakfast on the living room table. There were scrambled eggs, toast, fruit, and a cup of tea. Just the sight of food made my stomach lurch again, but I walked over to the tray anyway and found a note next to it.
Good morning bonita
I have just gone to the gym for a few hours. Room service should deliver you breakfast soon. Make sure you eat it, you had quite a night last night!
don't worry about mari. I visited her last night to find her safely in bed asleep, and I paid the babysitter extra to stay overnight and until we're ready to pick her up today.
I left two aspirin by your sink. See you soon my love
Cris
I released a breath of relief when I read that Mariana was safe. I smiled at the note and set it down before walking quickly to the bathroom. Nothing sounded better to me right now than I couple aspirin. My head was killing me. I took the aspirin and looked in the mirror. I was not prepared for the sight that "greeted" me. I looked awful. I wiped my makeup off and washed my face before brushing my teeth and hair.
I somehow found myself wandering into Cris's room. It was immaculately clean, nothing out of place. All of his clothes were neatly folded and he had even made his bed before leaving. Typical Cris. I, on the other hand was a complete mess. I always had clothes and things strewn all over my room. I couldn't keep things neat to save my life. I remembered many moments of Cris being mildly disgusted at how I couldn't seem to keep anything neat or organized. I laughed to myself before walking over to his closet and pulling a pair of sweatpants on. I was feeling chilly and I'm sure he wouldn't mind.
I walked back into the living room and looked out of the floor to ceiling windows, admiring the hotel's beautiful views of Zurich. It was a magnificent city. I was just mid-thought about how beautiful the country Switzerland seemed to be when I heard a buzz and then the suite door open. I turned around suddenly and saw Cris, wet with sweat and headphones still in, walk into the room. I watched him walk closer to me, yet he still didn't notice me for a few seconds.
