Dialga stood on the edge of Temporal Tower. He had been waiting for the last hour, not that time mattered to him. If he wanted to, he could easily skip ahead in time to the point where his partner arrived. However, there were matters to attend to.
The dark blue legendary's gaze was set to the continent that stretched before his tower. There was of course the island, his island, and then the mainland. There, it appeared that the residents were cheerful and happy. It was a beautiful day in Treasure Town, as well as the other villages that littered the landscape. There were the happy chirps of bird pokemon filling the air, residents purchasing items from the Kecleon Shop, children playing on the beach, and of course, the guild.
Wigglytuff's Guild was oddly quiet. The rest of the village might not have noticed, or were concerned, since it was the guild's issues. But, Dialga knew what was going on. While the day was beautiful and blue, the pale, cloudless sky stretching overhead, there was something that had remained unseen to the rest of the village.
There was a section of land in the southeastern part of the continent that had become... frozen.
It wasn't frozen in time, or space, or anything of the sort. It was quite literally frozen. Icy. Barren. A ruthless, self-sustaining snowstorm was raging in the area, and showed no signs of stopping.
As far as Dialga knew, Rayquaza had visited the area and reported that. And as far as he knew, Arceus had responded with an eerie silence. Then, he had asked the dragon to fetch the other legendaries. That's what scared Dialga. And that's why he was glad the guild didn't say anything about it, as all three of the time gears' guardians had to report to this meeting. They were equally nervous, and had to go to the guild to ask them to protect the gears while they were gone.
Dialga surveyed the continent for a minute longer before turning, letting out a shaky sigh. He didn't necessarily want to admit he was scared. After all, he was a god.
"But even gods feel, Dialga." Dialga's head snapped towards the voice. It was Mew. He gave a deeper, more annoyed sigh.
"Don't read my mind, Mew. You know you're scared too." He growled. The psychic cat's eyes remained calm. Her blue gaze was unsettling to the time god.
"At least I'll admit it." She replied, floating to his side to take a good look at the continent.
"Wow, I didn't expect it to be this bad." She mumbled. Dialga's gaze flicked over to her, and he nodded in a silent agreement.
"The other legendaries should be here soon. Come on, let's go to the meeting place." Mew said softly. Dialga nodded, roaring as he created a bubble of time.
"Seriously? We don't need to be there early." Mew said, exasperated as she glanced at him. He smirked back, his eyes filled with a playful nervousness.
"Might as well be, just to spite the others." He snickered. Mew smiled.
"You first, dear gentleman." She teased. He floated through, and she quickly followed. It was obvious to Dialga that this was a sorry attempt to lessen the anxiety brewing in both of their minds.
They emerged into a dark marble hall, clearly a normally unseen portion of Sky Tower. An almost satisfying click could be heard as he landed from his floating position. He glanced around. Palkia, Giratina, and Rayquaza were there. All three were being quiet, not even trying to initiate a conversation.
Dialga shared a glance with Mew. If it had Palkia quiet, something must be truly wrong in the world. Then again, if the time god could feel it, he was positive his partner could feel the unrest.
He patiently sat, Mew floating at his side. Everyone was glancing at each other, a shared anticipation. He didn't want to time skip at this point. He was too scared of what he'd arrive at.
Finally, a small rip of both space and time appeared, glowing a pure white. Arceus floated out, a satisfying click sounding as he stepped onto the pale marble.
Dialga looked at him. The legendary always managed to look regal, wherever or whenever he went. He looked troubled as he walked over.
"LEGENDARIES." Arceus said. Dialga flinched slightly. He had never gotten used to Arceus's loud voice. He sighed inwardly at himself. He shouldn't be concerned with how absurdly loud Arceus was right now. Steeling himself for the next statement, he looked up, serious as before.
"AS YOU ALL KNOW, THERE HAS BEEN A RECENT... PROBLEM." Arceus paused for a second. Mew's look was grim now, not as calm as she was usually. Dialga noticed this, and ended up even more unnerved.
"THIS IS CAUSED BY A CERTAIN ENEMY. I AM UNSURE AS TO WHAT IT IS RIGHT NOW. HOWEVER, RAYQUAZA, SUICUNE, ZAPDOS, AND I HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING." Arceus said. Now, Palkia looked upset, speaking up.
"Arceus, why did you not ask Dialga and I for help? We can split space and time. We could find the enemy faster than Rayquaza, Suicune, and Zapdos could." At that, Dialga could hear the growl from Rayquaza and Suicune, as well as seeing Zapdos's feathers ruffle in anger.
"YOU TWO NEED TO FOCUS ON KEEPING SPACE AND TIME EXISTING. AS I WAS SAYING, THIS CREATURE DOESN'T ONLY FREEZE THE LAND PERMANENTLY, AND KEEP IT COLDER THAN ANY POKEMON COULD WITHSTAND, IT ALSO WEAKENS THE BOUNDARIES OF SPACE AND TIME." Dialga stared at him in shock as well as slight fear. This pokemon could threaten Temporal Tower and the rest of the Hidden Land? Mew didn't look shocked, but kept that grim look on her face, a look that by now, Dialga had grown to resent.
"WE ARE STILL WORKING ON FINDING THE PERPETRATOR. BUT ONCE THEY'RE FOUND..." Arceus's eyes glowed a deep red. Dialga immediately felt frightened, fighting his initial instinct to back up and run away with his tail between his legs.
"...THEY'LL REGRET IT." He finished, a deep growl signifying that the Pokemon who had done this wouldn't have a lot of fun. Dialga shook a little. Palkia looked equally terrified, and the brothers shared a glance for a second before peeling their eyes off each other, forcing themselves to look back at the Original Pokemon.
"... PALKIA, DIALGA, PROTECT YOUR REALMS. I'M AFRAID THAT THIS CREATURE MIGHT ATTACK THE TWO OF YOU. XERNEUS AND YVELTAL WILL BE IN STASUS. THEY HAVE THEIR GUARDS, WHOM ARE PROTECTING THEM IN THEIR SLEEP. THE REST OF YOU, KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FOR ANY DANGER. THE CREATURE WILL MOST LIKELY ATTACK YOU AS WELL. BE VERY CAREFUL. THIS CREATURE CREATES COLD SO BITTER THAT NOT EVEN KYUREM CAN WITHSTAND IT. "
Everything was completely silent for a minute before suddenly, Azelf spoke.
"Pardon me, Arceus, you said the southeastern portion of the continent, correct?" The god nodded in return.
"...That portion is heavily forested, is it not?" He finished. Dialga suddenly knew what he was getting at, and was hit with a pang of fear. Arceus nodded once again.
"Celebi is the protector of forests... and I noticed that she isn't at this meeting." He squeaked quietly. It quickly sunk in, and Dialga was suddenly even more scared.
"SHE WAS CAUGHT IN THE FOREST AS IT FROZE. IT BECAME ICE AT AN ALARMING RATE, NOT EVEN CELEBI'S TIME TRAVELING COULD SAVE HER." Arceus mumbled solemnly. Everyone was completely silent in a moment of mourning Celebi's loss.
"... THIS HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME, AND THERE WAS ONLY ONE THING THAT COULD BE DONE." Arceus spoke, his voice echoing. "YOU PROBABLY DO NOT REMEMBER. IT WAS MANY EONS AGO." He glanced around at the legendaries.
"WE NEED TO BRING A HUMAN TO THIS WORLD." Dialga's mouth hung open in shock. He suddenly recognized the presence of Mew again, her eyes wide, and clearly interested.
"PALKIA, YOU AND I WILL WORK ON IT. THE REST OF YOU, GET BACK AND PROTECT YOUR REALMS."
Dialga shared a final glance with his brother before he summoned a portal, leaping through it and ending up back on the top of his tower. He walked to the edge of the stone circle, looking down on the continent once more. He took a deep sigh.
"Please... Whoever is coming to our world... Please save us! You're our last hope!"
