Beyond a Facade

An apathetic face
Amid the tears
Standing by himself
Calming his fears

People left him alone
Giving him time
The emptiness was absolute
Unexplained through this rhyme

Keeping his emotions in check
He never cried
Not even when she got sick
Or the day she died

He stood transfixed
With head bent down
His face was haggard
Contorted with a frown

Incise in a tomb
Revealing her name
His eyes were moist
The tears finally came

The man clad in black
Void with hope
Hardly alive and breathing
Trying to cope

Hiding behind a facade
Acting like he's okay
When actually he's disappearing
With each passing day
