Maya's POV:

At first, I believed my eyes had deceived me.

Maybe my mind was so caught up with the elevator boy, that I am imagining him.

My eyes shutter multiple times before my vision returns to normal, and I see Riley with a huge plastered smile on her face. Lucas stands beside her, still locked in my eyes.

Riley giggles softly. "Maya, this is my boyfriend, Lucas Friar. Lucas, this is my roommate and new best friend, Maya Hart."

Both of us do not dare to move an inch.

Riley shoots us both a shake hands now before this gets awkward look; but little does she know, it's already awkward.

"Hi, um–Maya," Lucas stutters, extending his hand out to me.

"Hi," I whisper, almost inaudible, as I shake his hand back.

All three of us glare softly at each other, unaware of what to do next. Lucas' eyes have yet to leave mine.

"Um, Riley, sweetie. Can you go grab my room key in my car? I think I left it there," Lucas lies, not even bothering to look at Riley.

"Of course, babe. Where are your keys?"

"Here," he says, tossing her the keys from his pocket.

Riley takes the keys and walks out the door. "Get to know each other, you two! I need y'all to be friends!"

The door slams shut, and not a word is spoken.

"Look, I'm sorry, I didn't–"

"Didn't what?" I shout as I stare into his sparkling hazel eyes that somehow have a power to draw me in, every damn time.

Lucas' hands fiddle with his jean pocket as he looks helplessly at me.

"You know what, forget it, I... This should have never happened!"

He takes a small step forward, causing me to take another step back.

"Nothing happened, Maya. Stop acting like something did," defends Lucas, rising his voice slightly.

"None of this should have ever happened! I should have never left my mom, I should have never stayed here in New York! I should have never applied to this stupid ass college, I should have never gotten paired in a room with Riley. And I certainly should have never run into you in the elevator. I should have never even kno–"

In a split second, his heated lips crash dangerously into mine.

Our lips begin moving in perfect harmony together, almost like a song that never ends. I feel the warmth of his hands resting on my cheeks. My lips begin to quiver as my knees begin to grow weak underneath me. His muscular arms snake around my waist, pulling me closer into him. Our bodies touch in the moment, sending shivers down my spine. Lucas senses my weakness and moves his hands to my thighs, lifting me up into his arms. With my legs wrapped around his back, his hands on my upper thighs near my butt, and my arms clinched to his neck, there was no stopping us.

What the hell am I doing?

"Wait–!" I breathe heavily as I release my hands off of Lucas' neck and push his shoulders, breaking the kiss.

Lucas does not put me down, rather our eyes lock together. His hazel eyes glisten as a wide smile spreads across his face. My eyes soften at the calming site.

"No! Lucas, put me down!" I shout, snapping back into reality.

He removes his hands from my thighs and gently unwraps my legs from around his waist, grabbing onto my waist and letting me down onto the ground slowly.

"What the hell did you just do?!" I scream as I throw my hands up into the air.

"What do you mean?" Lucas replies confidently, his eyes widening with a smirk.

"What do I mean?! Have you not been here the last 5 minutes that we have been making out! How could you do this to Riley?!"

Lucas gazes me up and down carefully. "You didn't try to stop me," he smirks.

All I can do is look back at him, realizing that Lucas is right. I did not try to stop him.

Thinking things over, I walk over to Riley's bed and flop down. Lucas follows my lead and takes a seat next to me. My fingers begin picking at my jeans nervously while Lucas just gazes at me, waiting for me to speak.

"We can't tell her about this," I whisper, not looking up from my hands.

Lucas does not respond. A few seconds later, he nods slowly.

The dorm room door opens and Riley returns barging in with one room key, one set of car keys, and a wide smile.
