Lucy, Eloise and Raphy had been running patrols with me one evening. We had three newbies with us. We never really wanted to get other girls, but some of the more experienced girls often got cocky, and we had no other choice. Two of the newbies, Hannah and Izzy, stayed with us, but the third, Millie, began to wonder. We had turned away from her no more than ten seconds, before a pain filled scream filled the air. Millie had run into some trouble. Raphy and Eloise stood in front of the two girls, protecting them. Lucy and I ran straight for it. This one looked to be in his mid-thirty’s. His white shirt was covered with guts and gore. His jeans were ripped and his hair was smothered in grease. "Dude needs a makeover," I shouted to Lucy. She flashed me a grin before diving for Millie. She would never admit it, but she had admired Millie. She had a good sense of humour and could always make a joke of everything. Just like Lucy. I saw Lucy pull Millie out the way. That's when it happened. "Ahhh!!! You basket!!" She yelled as the blood began to flow from the cut above her eye. The beast was about to grab her, when Raphy shot it's arm clean off. Lucy jumped back up only to be thrown to the ground. I knew I had to act ... fast. I darted around the back of the beast; my ballistic knives at the ready. I threw them into the monsters neck, one on each side. I was about to pull them, which would have completely pulled his head off, but before I had the chance, I was flying through the air. I jumped up quickly and kicked the second Zombie straight in the face. He fell to the ground a loud shout flew from his mouth. I grabbed my pistol and shot him, straight in the head. His body slumped as he exhaled loudly. His shirt was black, so it was hard to make out the blood stains. He wore navy tracksuit bottoms which had grass stains all over them. He'd been knocked down before, but it would seem that he had managed to escape a true death a few times. "Not this time pal," I muttered as I put my pistol back into place. "MILLIE!!!" My eyes darted up and I could see Lucy, her face filled with pain. The thing had latched onto Millie, and was now feeding from her. That basket got Millie. She was only twelve. Suddenly a kick of adrenalin filled my veins as I sprinted forward and jumped onto his back. His arms flew back, as he tried to pull me off. Before he had the chance, I pulled on the ballistic knives and his head fell to the ground. I jumped of his back, as his body fell to the floor.

Lucy's eyes were filled with rage as tears began to fall. She threw the head above her before booting it away. I knelt down and tried to see if there was any hope for her. She was jolting beneath me, as if she was having a fit. I felt her pulse. It was beginning to slow. No. I looked up into Eloise's eyes. Raphy had taken the two other girls and Lucy back to the school. “We have to shoot her" I muttered. Eloise's eyes looked grim. “Is there no other way?" She asked. She sounded desperate. This was going to be hard. It would hurt Lucy. It would hurt all of us who had witnessed the events of today. Eloise looked away from me and wiped a tear from her eye. “Well, either we kill her now, and let her die peacefully, or we let her live like this and face her in battle when the time comes," I tapped Eloise's hand. She hardly ever cried, so I knew this really was going to hurt her. We were all screwed up as it was, and we didn't need or want any more crap. She met my eyes. I looked straight into her bright blue eyes for a moment. The white of her eyes was now stained red. I sighed. I knew I had to do it. If we were being honest I was the most screwed up, so this wouldn't make much of a difference. I was the killer out of all of us. "Eloise, go. I'll do this," I told her. "Nadia..." She began to object. "No Eloise, go. Now. You need to tell Miss Reid we lost another girl. Lucy's not going to be think straight for a while, and there's no ways she's going to be able to say that Millie’s dead. It will all become too real for her. Just go," I reasoned with her. She nodded, “Ok, Nadia." I looked at her ammo belt. Hmm she was running low. “You need ammo?" I asked, concern rising in my voice. We didn't need to lose any others today. “Oh, crud yeah," she mumbled, looking' down at her belt. I took my machine gun off my back. "Take this. I'll be fine. I work well with pistols," I pushed my gun towards her. I gave her the eyes. "Please don't argue" I thought to myself. She nodded and rose. She was unable to take her eyes off me. Like Lucy, she didn't want to face the reality that Millie was really dead either. She turned, quickly, and pulled my gun up to her chest as she began to run towards the school. And then she was gone. I sighed and looked round quickly. To my luck it was completely clear. I had lied to Eloise. I was best with my Famas, the gun that I had given her. She didn't need to worry about me, though. I pulled out my pistol and gulped." I'm sorry Millie. I'm so sorry," I soothed her. The sound of my shot filled to air. Millie stopped twitching. She glanced towards me. She had still been human somewhere in there. "Thank y......" Millie exhaled loudly. Her face was suddenly empty. Tears fell from my own eyes. I dropped to my knees next to her. I put a hand on her check, before reaching up and closing her eyes. I sighed loudly before wiping my eyes. I threw glances around me. Nothing. I put my pistol back into its holder, before lifting Millie’s limp body from the ground.

I walked quickly, back to the school. I was greeted by Mrs Hanning and Mr Crum. Mrs Hanning had blonde hair with dark blonde roots. Her eyes were full of remorse, but she was completely expressionless apart from the remorse in her eyes. Mr Crum stood to the left of her, his chocolate brown eyes completely focused on Millie’s limp body. He looked pale and, much like Mrs Hanning, his face was completely expressionless. I began to walk up the stone steps, towards them. I looked down to see a stretcher and an old bed sheet lying on the ground before them. Mr Crum suddenly snapped out of his phase. “Millie Gown ... how old was she?" He asked, his eyes snapping up to meet mine. "She was 12," I replied simply. I bent down and, very gently, I placed Millie’s dead body onto the stretcher, before covering her with the sheet. I stood and sighed loudly. Mrs Hanning and Mr Crum both looked at me, their eyes quizzical. "I guess you want to know what happened,"
