Prelude to the Battle

Reina: Thanks for the votes! On to the story!

4 hours earlier...

"Is this where the disturbances started?" I asked Leo.

Leo nods and looks at his map. "Yes. The locals are reporting strange occurrences along this river, which they depend upon for their livelihood."

"Can you describe them?" I ask.

"Basically monsters are attacking them from the river," Takumi states before Leo could open his mouth. The two boys began to glare at each other for no reason whatsoever.

"Leo, Takumi." I called. "I need your help planning our positions."

The boys continued to glare at each other.

"Hello...?" I muttered as waved in front of them.

No response.

I began to shove both boys, but they remained statue-like, attempting to burn holes at the other's head. I was about to give up when they began to argue verbally.

"NOHRIAN SCUM!" Takumi yelled.

"HOSH**IAN!" Leo spat.

As their voices began to rise in volume, a plan struck me. Making sure that they were distracted, I began to execute my plan.

Ten minutes later, they decided that the best way to settle this fight was to punch the living daylights out of each other until one of them fell. They raised their fists to punch each other, only to stop and stare.

"Leo..." Takumi began. "Your knuckles says, 'Hi, I'm Takumi!' in black ink."

"And yours says, "Hi! I'm Leo!'" Leo replied. The boys looked at their arms and screamed. Their gloves were off, with the mark of the Exalt drawn all over their arms, accompanied by doodles of lobsters, hedgehogs, bunnies, tomatoes, and pineapples.

"CORRIN!" Both boys yelled. "WHEN AND WHY DID YOU DO THIS??!!?!?!?"

I laughed. "You guys were so busy fighting that you didn't notice me take off your gloves and start doodling on them."

Both boys face palmed and glanced at me. "What possessed you to do this?"

I pointed behind me. "Uh, the entire battlefield is covered with monsters."

Leo and Takumi dashed forward and stared at the battlefield. I turned around and examined it as well.

"Shall we go and fight them?" I ask.

"Not yet..." Leo muttered. He pointed to different buildings that have long since decayed. "If we can capture those forts, then we can gain an advantage."

Takumi and I nodded. Leo then grabbed his gloves me and placed them on, with Takumi following suit. "Everyone ready?" I asked.

They nodded. I pulled and my sword and smiled. "Let's go."

We dashed to the battlefield, splitting up in different directions. Leo went to the left and Takumi went to the right. I dashed to the middle, slicing my way through the battlefield in order to reach the middle base. Upon reaching the base, it was infested with monsters.

"Are you kidding me?" I muttered.

The monsters all lunged at me. Gripping Yato tighter, I began to swing it around and knock down the enemies. After defeating five waves, a monster materialized in front me.

"I have to fight you too?" I asked.

"Rawr," it replied.

Sighing, I raised Yato and slashed the monsters stomach. It dissipated instantly, and the base was surrounded by a blue light, instantly killing off any monster that was left over.

"Neat trick."

I exited the base, only to see Takumi run to me. "I managed to snag a base!" He declares proudly.

"That's good to hear," I reply.

Some monsters approached us, but Takumi shot them all without blinking.

"Show off," I muttered.

Takumi looked extremely proud of himself. Before I could think of a way to wipe the smug look off his face, Leo ran up to us, grinning.

"I managed to capture four bases!"

"Liar," Takumi muttered.

A slow clapping echoed behind us. "Well done. I see the husband and wife are getting into an argument."

"Husband...?" Leo began.

"Wife...?" Takumi added.

They glanced at each other and screamed. "WHAT THE HELL?!?!"

The hooded man sighed. "You mean they're not married?"

I glanced at Leo, who was trying to unspike his hair, and Takumi, who was attempting to unbraid their hair. "I wish I brought Laslow and Niles with me instead," I muttered.

"SHUT UP!" My brothers yelled. "GIVE US BACK OUR HAIR ACCESSORIES, CORRIN!!!"

The hooded man frowned. "Pardon?"

"... I may have taken my brothers' hair accessories..." I confessed.

"... They're your brothers?"

"Long story," I explained.

"I can tell..." The man muttered. "And as much as I would love to chat...." Lightning surrounded his hand, and I saw purple eyes stare into my soul. "I'm here to kill you."

Before I could react, Leo and Takumi launched themselves at the hooded man.

"Leo! Takumi!" I yelled.

But it was too late. They were thrown back, and Leo hit his head and passed out. Takumi attempted to revive him, and the man laughed.

"Monster!" I yelled as I raised Yato to the sky.

"... I think not..." The man stated as I froze. I couldn't move as he approached me.

"You lose, Corrin."

Reina: And that is how Corrin and co got captured.

I couldn't resist tormenting Leo and Takumi. XD
