ASTRID POV

As I was flying with Battle-axe in the direction he took me after smelling the journal I had taken from Hiccup's forge station, I felt such freedom. I leaned against Axe and took deep breaths in time with his. I could hear him purr as I lightly rubbed his scales. How did this happen, how did I Astrid Hofferson fall for a dragon, if I wasn't so happy I would be disgusted with myself. Then I realized I was, not with what I was feeling but how it changed me from a strong independent dragon killing shield maiden to a lovesick emotional Viking girl. We landed on an island as it got dark, we both ate some dried fish I packed. Axe growled at me as if trying to tell me something and I was overcome with confusing feelings. I started to sing to him, singing about how I was feeling was something I did as a little girl and never thought I would do again, yet I did and I sang for him.

HICCUP POV

Toothless and I were scouting our new territory when I heard a familiar voice I though I'd never hear again. We quietly landed and I saw the most shocking thing ever, it was Astrid with a Deadly Nadder and singing to it as she laid against it. I smiled at the prospect of someone who I knew was strong joining our efforts to build a Human/Dragon flock. I would speak before showing myself to her so I can tell her of my changes, to ensure she doesn't try to kill me. I decided to speak after she finished singing.

"Hello Astrid"

ASTRID POV

I finished singing for Axe and smiled until I heard a voice.

"Hello Astrid"

"wait I know that voice, Hiccup"

"Yes Astrid it's me, I'm surprised to see you like this"

"yeah it was a bit of a surprise to me too, but where are you"

"my body has changed a bit due to my mates vows"

"mate?"

"Toothless the night fury"

"I see, I promise I won't freak out"

Hiccup came out of the shadows and I was shocked to see that he had wings and a tail along with patches of scales on his body.

" What brings you to our territory"

"I sort of read your journal and after I got to know Battle-axe I knew I could never hurt him so I thought maybe I could work with you, to help with this place where we could have peace"

"Our flock is always happy to welcome new members who are as sincere as you"

"Thank you. . . . my queen"

I bowed my head and Hiccup smiled at this display.

"come we will find a place for you and Battle-axe to roost for the night"

I got onto Axe's back and followed Hiccup and Toothless, I pet the side of his head and he warbled at me happily, we both new we were going to our new home. I smiled like a lovesick girl again and shook my head and whispered to Axe.

"look at what you do to me. . . . . . it's disgusting"
