I believe a world of perfection is nonexistent. Yet, every creature, small or large, dream of the eternal world; its soothing winds, healing breaths, lulling skies, gentle scents. Perfection is not attainable by the individual alone. No individual animal, no individual person, nor race, or party, nor government, and no individual country can receive and gain the full blessings of life. And even if they had, that perfection is limited.
My life was far from perfect.
I was a small girl, untainted by the colors of the world. If you asked her about the world, she would endlessly talk in an animated behavior. Her joyous spirit became the pride of her family, and the kingdom of Caelum loved her.
She was well raised, even educated. Her red lips testified her knowledge, despite her body, that was not yet mature and still that of a girl's. She had a strong will, with an open, receiving mind that observed her universe.
And she was blessed with beauty. Her angelic features and surprising knowledge offered her an audience with the king of Caelum, and his only son, Damon Savabri, heir to the throne.
I still remember that eventful day:
"There was the once good western kingdom, corrupted by spies of the east. Though they had valued honesty, the word of the enemy now whispers into the right ear of the Western King. The eastern kingdom is notorious for their barbaric methods. Schemes and lies rule the lands, and their people are more ugly and vicious than any other kingdom. Tell me, dear Rose, which kingdom of the two will grant you passage to the High Lands?"
The king had sat upon his throne with an air of sovereignty, waiting for her answer.
For a second, her eyes had flickered to the prince who stood silently beside his father, catching a glimpse of his blonde hair that seemed to shine under the sun.
"My Lord, with a humble mind and tongue, I would have to choose the Eastern Kingdom."
She had remembered how her father had taught her to address the king.
"Granting passage can be as simple of an act as giving directions. Neither kingdom can be trusted. Can the Western King be redeemed? Or is he too deeply tainted? We haven't got a clue. While he is unstable, I believe it is best to hear from the enemy, who will consistently give us the information we need. He will lie to us, and we will go the opposite."
"So have the enemy point a way, then go the opposite?"
The king had the sliver of a smile on his face.
"Precisely."
"Dear, dear, Damn, just as how you answered".
The prince had smiled towards her, replying with a small praise towards the girl. Blushing, she returned the praise back to the young lord, who had then laughed.
But all the while, outside the castle walls, rogues had begun their raid into the settlements of Caelum. If I could travel through time, I would go back into the innocent girl's shoes and warn the royal council, but this is only a fool's dream. Homes were burnt down, masses of people were massacred, and not too long later, the barbarians infiltrated into the castle and ravaged through the ancient halls.
The aftermath of the revolt became the hard truth that changed the girl. Her parents laid dead, staring lifelessly into the sky, and along with them, so did the young, innocent, and joyous spirit within her.
She was no longer the same.
I was no longer the same.
