It was currently 8:30 in the morning, a guard walked over to escort me through gates that were unfamiliar to me. If I had walked through those gates the day before, a guard would've aimed his rifle and shot me. But it wasn't the day before. It was the day of my release, and I walked alongside the guard toward the area where others would process me out of the prison.

I said goodbye to those I grew close with, such as Ashley (Ash), and Travis. Travis was a little curious shit, brown eyes, brown hair, and a weird personality. Over all though, he was very understanding and smart, somebody good enough to call a best friend.

Imagine seven-eight years of dreams, desires, fears, regrets flowing like a river, cleansing your soul, removing the grime of desperation, taking away the filth of living in a box. The guard opened the door while my hands where intertwined within the metal handcuffs. It had hit me, and I felt nothing but the stale breeze and unconcealed astonishment. I was stuck in between the prison door and society, and as I took my first step through the door and realized all of the eyes that we're a-pointed on me, only.

I was then released  from the metal. "You are free."  The guard turned and looked at me as he mumbled.
