"You are free." I walked down the stairs, hair disheveled, and I appeared in all the dishabille of unutterable anguish.
My mom was almost unnoticeable, but her voice is what made me realize she was and has always been my mom. I heard cries, and excitement. My little sister Jessica had always been a big part of my life, and now she's the little sixteen year old I once was, before I was announced guilty that is. Nevada, I had said quietly to my self. The quiet, yet busy state I once lived in, is still normal Nevada.
I was taken out to eat, one out of many surreal experiences. In prison, inmates were given little choice over what to eat, but at the restaurant, the menu had over 50 items to choose from. I couldn't believe that I was allowed to make so many choices in so little time. I'm not fully sure what I ordered but I think it was about as generic as one could get (burger, fries and Coke or something like that).
While I was walking to my table, I had ran into a man about 6"2, blond hair, and had a beautiful shade of brown eyes.
"I'm so sorry sir!"
"It's alright and please, call me Ayden!"
"Well, Ayden I'm sorry for running into you just a second ago. So, Where are you sitting?"
"Oh, I'm sitting at table 4, the window seat, Where the old man is. How about you?"
"I slightly giggled. I'm sitting over there at table 7.." I was interrupted by a soft, yet loud voice.
"McCormick, Your order is ready." I walk over to the ordering station, and grab my food. "Thank You Ma'am, have a nice day." I turn around to see Ayden already sitting down at his table, talking to the older guy, must be his father? I assumed.
I was anxious to eat, and my stomach had not stopped growling since I've gotten out of the prison. My Mom and Jessica (Jess) where waiting for me to open the food, and just as I did so, they've already complained about not having straws for their soda.
"I'll go get them!" I exclaimed. But my mom piped in.
"No sweetie, I'll grab them, You stay here and talk with your sister, Alright?"
I calmly accepted. Jessica and I didn't really talk much, we just sat and ate. But of all things she noticed Ayden staring towards our direction, and Jess clearly pointed it out. "Ally, that guy over by the window is staring at you." Well, I wouldn't say directly at me. "He's kind of cute too." I shove my cheese burger in my mouth and take a bite, while trying to ignore what Jess just said and acting like I didn't already know he was staring. "I'm gonna get more food." I said.
As I stood up, mom sat down. Walking to the Order station, I asked for the same exact thing I just recently ordered.
While I stood by the counter grabbing whatever money I had left in my wallet, I felt a warm brush of air and something rap around my body. It was Ayden.
He grabbed my wallet out of my hands and slowly pushed me closer the counter, arms still rapped around me. "How about I pay, Beautiful?" Um, Well."Sure." Is all I could say, while half smiling, not even knowing what to do. He took my wallet and put it in my back pocket, then walked to the side of me, still close. "I'll be paying for this meal." He said to the girl standing on the other side of the counter. "That'll be $10.25 sir." He handed her the money and looked back at me. " Thank you? Ayden."
His light brown eyes were attached to mine.
I couldn't move.
