April's POV

We got to my house and ran inside to find a note

Got called into work. There is a pizza in the freezer
if you and May want it. I will be home as so as I can

- Mom

May read the note once I got done. We started to cook the pizza and look for movies.

"You want to watch Spy?" May asked picking up the case.

"Sure" I said putting down my pile of movies.

Once the pizza was down we sat down to watch Spy. I sat on the floor covered with a blanket and my back to the couch. May layed on the couch with another blanket and my dog, Lady. We watched the movie and ate the pizza. Then there was a knock on the door. We waited for another one but no sound came. We watched another ten minutes then looked out the window, nothing. We opened the door and there on the porch was another file. We picked it up and took it inside, locking the door behind us. We sat on the floor with the file on the coffee table staring at us. May opened it and found another picture only this time it was a picture of a door at the end of a hallway. She moved the picture and that's when I saw it. . . A key. It was a small key with a heart at the end.

May gave me a look and I knew what she was thinking. I shook my head "No it's not a good idea"

"Grabbed that flashlight April we are going to that house!" May said laughing.

I have known May for 13 years and I know that if I didn't go she would go anyway. I grabbed two flashlights and we left.

When we got to the house the sun was still up but setting. We walked up the stairs and I really wanted the door to be locked. May took a stick from the yard and pressed it on the door. It opened, of course. We walked inside to see dust everywhere. May turned on her flashlight and took a step forward. I was close behind her with my flashlight in hand. The couch, bookcase, table and fireplace was all covered in dust. Just then my flashlight went dark.

"You have got to be kidding me!" I said putting the flashlight in my jacket pocket.

"Hey April do you notice anything about this hallway, the only hallway in the house?" May asked.

I walked over trying not to hit anything and looked at the hallway.

"This is not the hallway in the picture. This hallway has three doors, the one in the picture only had one door" I answered.

"Then where is the other hallway?" May asked.

"Why don't we go check the rooms?" May said already starting to walk down the hall.

As we opened the door a group of bats flew out. I tripped and hit the floor. May ran down the hall into the livingroom. I herd a big bang and got up to see what it was. I turn the corner and saw May laying on the floor and the bookcase tipped over. I go to help May when I saw it. A long hallway right behind where the bookcase had been against the wall and at the end was a door.

"May I found the hallway!" I said looking down at her.

"I think I found the hallway" she said rubbing her head and laughing.

I helped her up and we started to walk down the hall. Once we got to the door we gave each other a look.

"Rock, paper, scissors. Loser has to open the door" May said.

"Fine. Rock, paper, scissors"

I had paper and she had scissors.

I put my hand on the doorknob and gave her a look , All she did was smile. I went to turn it only the thought of all those bats stopped me again. I turned the knob only to find out it was locked.

"Do you still have that key with you?" I asked May.

"Yeah" she said looking in her bag.

She pulled it out. She put the key in the keyhole but it didn't move.

"Maybe we can come back tomorrow and look around"

" If that key doesnt open the door what do you think it opens?" I asked

"Maybe it's for one of those old music boxes"

May put the key in her bag and we walked back to my house. The sky was pink and light blue when we walked out. I was so glad to be out of that old house. Once we got home I saw my mom sitting at the table.

"Where were you girls at?" Mom asked.

We both looked at eachother and we both paniced and that's when May said it.

"We met with a few friends at the park"

"And what are these friends names?"

"Ryan and Darren"

My mom's eyebrow went up.

"Ok then. What do you to want for breakfast in the morning?"

We just looked at her.
