Breaking Apart

Chapter 1

Warning: do not read if you haven't read 'Stronger in Numbers'... Well, you can if you want but I'd say read the first book to understand the characters...

"You got married!?" Sky said his face red with rage. "Y-yes, sir," Ian said, standing to attention in front of the commander. Em walked in to the room with Goldy by her side. Seeing the tense situation they both were about to back out of the room when Sky sent them a death glare. "Did you two know about this!?" He yelled. "About what?" Goldy asked. Em flicked a piece of fringe out of her right eye and it let rest over her left eye again. Seto had tried to fix it, but he could only make her see half of the definition of what she could see before. "Your fucking brother got married!" He said pointing at Em like it was her fault. The two girls looked shocked before they started congratulating Ian. "Shut up! This is not good! He can't be a general anymore," Sky said rather sadly. "Who said that?" Ian questions a bit surprised. "The rules do," Sky said. "C-c'mon Sky, I could still be a husband and serve my kingdom," Ian said nervously. Sky looked at him. He looked tired, black semi-circles could be seen under his eyes. "I-I'm sorry Ian," Sky said. Ian turned away from him, storming out of the room. Ever since that squids were defeated the air in the place hung thick with annoyance and nobody knew why they were so irritated all the time.

"You're just a stupid little sorcerer!" Jerome's voice yelled from outside the door. Ian banged the doors open with such rage upon his face that the two generals, who had been in each other's faces, flinched away. Ian roughly grabbed Seto's hand and dragged him, yelling things like stupid Sky army. "Sky I've had enough of this place! I'm going and Mitch is coming with me! So is Lachlan!" Jerome fumed while stomping towards Mitch's bedroom. The annoyance in the air didn't bother the younger generation. Em was panicked as she realised that Jerome, maybe even Mitch, would try to take her new boyfriend away. She sprinted down the hall to go see Lachy. She heard Jerome yelling and Mitch yelling back. 'They never fight," she muttered. Lachy was from a rural state called Australis and the four girls had gone to live there when they were younger. Even though they were born in the outskirts of SkyKingdom they had adopted the Australisian accent. Em rounded the corner to see Jason glaring at Quinten, who was glaring back. She quickly walked past them then broke into a sprint again. She rounded many corners before she skidded into Lachy's room.

He was lying on his back and throwing a cricket ball up and catching it. After about two throws he missed the ball and it bounced of off his hand and in Em's general direction. He tilted his head back so he could see were it went and his eye meet with Em's. "Hey, Miss Snoopy," he said while smiling a lopsided smile. "I wasn't snooping," she smiled while bending down to pick up the ball. She tried to take a step while picking it up but lost her balance and fell over. Lachy started laughing as Em got up, her face red with embarrassment. "Staph," she whined as she threw the ball softly at him. He laughed harder so Em thought she should take advantage of this. She ran up and jumped on top of him, sitting on his stomach, and tickled him, causing him to laugh so hard he couldn't breath. "Stop it!" he yelled. "Yeah, stop it!" the voice the could only belong to a pissed of Mitch said. Em's eyes widened and she clung to Lachy as Mitch and Jerome entered the room. "Don't go with them," she said quietly in Lachy's ear. "Lachy, pack your things. We're going home," Jerome said. The two best-friends kept glancing at each other with daggers embedded in their stare.

"Um, I may be younger than you but I think I'm old enough to make up my own mind," Lachy said while sitting up and hugging Em. "No, we need to go now!" Jerome exclaimed as he walked over and tried to pull Em off Lachlan. "C'mon Lachy. Let's go home!" Mitch said, anger clear in his voice. "Fuck you, Mitch!" Jerome yelled suddenly. "Fuck you, too. Lachlan Power we are going home," Mitch said. "Mate, just stop!" Lachy said standing up and towering over the pair. The angry couple glared at the towering Lachlan before huffing in annoyance. "Fine then. See if I... We care," Mitch said while storming out of the room dragging Jerome. The two remaining could hear them cussing at each other and random items. "Well, that was interesting," Lachy stated. Em grinned up and him and he hugged her. "What the hell is goin' on around here!" the pair heard Ky say as she walked past the door while holding hands with Rob. She had changed her normal outfit so now she looks more like a gangster. Neon purple crop-top, white jacket with neon blue strips around the sleeves, black shorts with neon purple strips around the bottom, black and neon purple shoes topped with a black and neon purple and blue backwards facing cap. They entered the room and Ky was wearing a blue, purple and pink flower crown instead of her cap. "To be honest, I don't know," Em said as the two boys greeted each other by clapping their right hands together and pulling each other in for a bro-hug.

"The atmosphere just seems... tense and angry," rob stated as the boys joined the girls and stood in a half circle.  "I hope we don't have to fight some evil monster that is making the sky army generals like this," Ky said immediately going to touch the wooden door, hopefully getting rid of the jinx she had made. The three chuckled but went back to thinking. "Welp, things are going to shit around here," Lachy said with a half-hearted chuckle. The three nodded and hummed in agreement before the silence settled in again. "Well we need to go see Vikk," rob said as he waved goodbye and took Ky with him. Lachlan and Em looked at each other before being startled by two people falling out of Lachy's closet. "Oooof... PUUUUURSTEN!" Lolly yelled on the edge of bursting into laughter. "It wasn't me you pleb!" Preston yelled back while laughing. "What one minute! What the hell were you doing in my closet?" Lachy asked, bewildered. "It's just a prank bruh," Lolly and Preston yelled. Lolly all of a sudden jumped up and raced down the hall, Preston chased her, both laughing there heads off. The laughing and shrieking continued until someone yelled," FUCK OFF YOU IDIOTS! WHY ARE YOU SO ANNOYING?" Em and Lachlan laughed as they heard Ty shout. "Stop being such a cactus!" Presto and Lolly yelled before continuing their journey by running down the hall. "Well that just happened," Lachy giggled. "Yep," Em replied.
