The road of war is a horrid one, and the days pass anxiously. In those times you must hold onto something that keeps you grounded. For the soldiers, it's the hate of the enemy. For me, it's my lover, King Gaalees. He is strong and confident, but what has he to keep him grounded? He is only man, but he acts like so much more. On the battlefield he is quicker and stronger than men twice his size. He can topple horse riders with his bare hands, and he rushes into the shielded front lines of warriors and scatters them like dust to the wind of a tornado. What gives him strength? "Good morning darling," Gaalees says to me while nuzzling the back of my neck. "Good morning my love," I say back. I must know more of him. "My love, how did you become king?" I say to him. He tenses, I feel it. He is at odds about how he should answer. "I usurped a corrupt king with the aid of Tulk and Lauric," he said. I sat up and asked, "Why have you never told me this?" He lay there with his eyes closed. "It didn't seem important," he said. I kissed his cheek and said, "Well that's okay, would you please tell me more later?" He opened his eyes and looked at me worryingly. I lifted the cover to show my bare body and pulled his head to my chest. I began to play with his hair lovingly. He sighed and said, "I will tell you more, but could you continue, please?" I giggled and continued to hold him and fondle his curly locks of hair. He is a sweet and sad man, but few know him as that, many see him as the Mighty King Gaalees. But he is my sweet king, my sad sweet king.
