He didn't want it to hurt anymore.

It was cold out that afternoon after school. So cold... The snow partially obscured his vision as he walked out onto the school roof. He was the Heir to the great Togami family, something he used to be proud of, but now it was just a burden. He was just a burden. His family didn't really want him anymore, did they? That's why he was tormented. That's why he was hurt. Byakuya shuffled through the snow over to the railing, his legs feeling heavier with every step he took. He was sore and tired now, but soon he'd feel relief. In fact, soon he wouldn't be able to feel anything at all. He took off his gloves so they wouldn't cause his hands to slip, and gripped the railing tightly and he climbed over. His heels were the only parts of his feet that were still on the roof, the rest of it was over the edge. He didn't expect it to be so high up... It wouldn't hurt too much for that long when he hit the ground, right? As much as he just wanted it to be over, he couldn't seem to make himself let go. Why couldn't he...? Was he afraid of the pain? Surely it'd only last for a second, it was too far of a fall to possibly survive. He managed to pry one hand from the cold steel, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the picture of him and his boyfriend he often kept with him. They looked so happy together.... Not that he was unhappy with their relationship, but everything else in his life seemed to be failing. He seemed to be failing.

Byakuya put the picture back into his pocket and took out his phone instead. He couldn't just leave without saying goodbye first... It took him a minute to dial Naegi's number, as his hand was shaking, but eventually he typed it in and listened to it ring before he got an answer.

"Byakuya! I was just about to call you! Where are you? I've been waiting for you outside the school for a while now... Do you have to stay after or something?"

"Y...Yeah..." The 'Heir' couldn't hide the nervousness from his voice as he stared at the pavement below. "I might not see you for a while..."

"Are you okay? You sound scared-"

"I'm fine." He quickly cut him off. "I'm just... going on a business trip with my dad. I'll be.... gone for a while. I'm not sure when I'll be back."

".... You're sure you're okay? Where are you even going?" Makoto sounded extremely worried, as Togami had been acting strange for the past month or two. Always seeming anxious, never wanting to go home, showing up to school with injuries...

"I-I'm sure. Actually, I'm not sure if I'll ever be back..." He trailed off, his voice getting low. His hands were starting to get cold, he'd get frostbite if he stayed up here for too long. He had to jump soon, didn't he...

"What do you mean? Are you moving away? I- What are you doing up there?!" The lucksters voice had raised to a yell, he sounded terrified. This isn't what he wanted, he wished Naegi had just left so he didn't have to watch this happen...

"Go home, Makoto." He tried to hide the fear from his voice, he really did, but it was obvious. "Please just go home..." He could feel his eyes starting to water, making his vision blurry. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad if he couldn't see the ground, would that make it easier?

"B-Byakuya, you're not going to j-jump, are you?"

"It's the only way. I'm sorry." He was starting to choke up. "I was just a burden for you, for my family especially... And for your friends. You can hang out with them more now that I'll be gone, I'm sure they'd like that..."

"They're your friends too! We'd all miss you! I-I'd miss you so much..." Togami could hear he was starting to cry, he could hear the panic in his voice. He could even see him looking up from the ground to stare at him."You have so much to live for-"
