"7... 5... 42... 6..." Jake paced the room saying random numbers that meant practically nothing to his wife. "Jake please tell me what's wrong with you?!" She begged with tears in her eyes. Her helmet lay on the bed which made the tears in her eyes visible. She never cried, ever. She was truly scared for the first time in a long time. Unable to control herself she slapped her husband on the cheek so hard that it knocked him on his butt. Slowly his expression returned to normal and he was calm but with a face full of confusion Jake looked up into his wife's beautiful eyes. "K-Kat..." Jake eyes were full of hurt as his cheek started to turn bright red from the slap. Kat dropped to her knees hugging him close. "I'm sorry Jake I'm so sorry I didn't know what to do!" She cried over his shoulder. Jake wrapped his armored arms tightly around her armored body and he held her close. "No no no... My sweet Kat..." He held her closer to him. "I'm sorry for everything I have done... I'm so sorry." He closed his eyes.

The night went by rather slowly and sadly. Jake had tried to calm down lately by watching the city at night while holding Kat's hand tightly. This went on for several nights and it started to help a lot. This night was the same. Jake held Kat's hand as they laid against each other while watching the city and the night sky. Jake started shaking when his head hurt and he heard the voice again. Kat wrapped her arms around him and held him close kissing his head. "It's okay... Everything will be okay. We will get them back soon my love... I promise you that." She whispered to him.

Sighing softly as he watched from a distance, The boss stood up and walked away not wanting to eavesdrop any longer than he already had. Chris knew Jake's condition could only get worse from here. But what could HE do... He was only one man... Not a miracle worker.
