Aphmau's pov
Garroth and I, had went to the docks. We both layed in the grass, and looked at the, now star filled, sky.
"It's beautiful..." I muster, starring in awe.
I hear a chuckle from Garroth's direction. "It really is.."
A smile spreads across my face. It's hard to hold back from a smile, when your around Garroth. Or.. Maybe that's just me. I'm not exactly sure. I turn over to my side, and rest my head on my hand, elbow lifting my head up. I look towards Garroth, who is starring at me. "Hm?" I say, a smile still plastered across my face.
"Nothing.. Nothing.. I'm just.." He pauses. "Mesmerized.."
"Mesmerized? By what?" I tilt my head, in confusion.
"You." He simply states. Though, he says it easily, his face becomes a little red.
My smile deepens. "And.. What makes you say that?"
He looks back at the stars. "It's.. Not easy to describe. It's just... You truly are beautiful.. Not only that.. But.. Smart, kind, loyal, and a lot of other things. I could go down a list for hours.." He trails off, a smile appears on his face.
I blush. "Garroth.." I can't help but think of how sweet he is. The only other guy who points out my traits is--....Laurance. As I think of Laurance, my smile disappears.
Garroth glances at me, and gives a questioning look. "I'm sorry.. Did," he pauses. "..I say something?"
I shake my head, 'no'.
"What's the matter..?" He asks. A troubling look appears.
"I.." No matter what, I can't come to terms to say about Laurance. "Nothing." I blurt out, and manage a smile.
"Are.. You sure?" He gives me a sympathetic look. Trying to make sure, I know I can tell him anything.
I nod. "I'm fine."
"Okay.." He trails off, and we both turn to face the stars, once more.
A sigh escapes me.
Laurance's pov
Well... What now?
Hey, your the one who came up with that plan. Though it was awesome, your little 'friend' spoiled it. He's stronger then he looks, yeesh.
I know... Gah. We need to do.. Something! I can't let him take Aphmau from me..
Yeah.. Don't let him win!
I won't. A cold, hard, grin climbs onto my face. Not my grin.. My shadow's. My eyes go red. I'm not in control anymore. I--my shadow, stands up. What? How's--I'm not doing this..
Yeah. You aren't. A violent smirk appears. Because.. I am.
Stop! Stop this, right now!!
Nah. Where's the fun in that? You were SO easy to manipulate. All I had to do, was feed you little things. Now, I have things to do. People to... Suddenly, my hands clench. Kill.
Before I can even respond, my body moves. I'm going toward the docks. That's where Garroth and Aphmau are. That's who my shadow is after. Wait--if a shadow knight kills someone who is dear to them.. The transformation is complete. I can't let that happen. I try with all my might to send my shadow back to just my thoughts.
That won't work. I feel you working. You can't do anything. You're just as weak as I was. Powerless. Hahaha. Fun, isn't it?
I can't do anything. I'm powerless. Worthless. This might be the end of two people close to me.
Garroth's pov
I keep glancing at Aphmau. Something seems off. I'm not sure what, exactly.
"Aphmau..?" I blurt.
She looks at me, rather quickly. "Huh?"
"Are you sure that you're alright?" I ask, my eyes going sympathetic.
"Yeah. I'm fine." She smiles.
"If you say so.." I trail. We look into eachother's eyes.
Loud footsteps, loom from behind us. We both look back. There stands, Laurance. Eyes red. Angry-stricken.
"Laurance..?" Aphmau murmurs.
He grins. "Hello, dear Aphmau."
Dear? That's new.. He's acting.. Rather different.
"Y-you..." She clears her throat. "You seem different."
"Oh, I'm fine." A pause. "Just a little.. Heart broken. But I'll be okay." A wide, evil grin appears. "Once Garroth is dead."
"Dead..?" I mutter, not believing what he'd just stated.
"What? Laurance.. Don't say that! You and Garroth are friends!" Aphmau shouts in his direction.
"Friends, huh?" He places his fingers on his chin, posing as if thinking. "Friends don't stab their so called friends in the back!" A sword appears in Laurance's hand.
"Laurance, get ahold of yourself!!" I shout in his direction.
He glares at me, with his blood-red eyes. "Don't you dare speak."
"But--...he's right, Laurance!! Get yourself together!" Aphmau screams.
His eyes flash an icy blue, and he screams, "help!" But immediately, they flash back to red.
"Laurance.." Aphmau steps closer.
"GET AWAY!" He screams, his red aura getting stronger.
"Please, Laurance.." Aphmau pleads.
"Don't make me hurt you." I see the hurt as he says this. I see his sword, as he grips it tight. His knuckles white.
Aphmau smiles. "You won't."
