Chapter 13: Cause and Effect

The Watchtower
February 5, 12:30pm EDT.
(3rd Person POV)
The Legion had been ended and the Justice League had saved Robin and Metropolis from a certain end, the League had waited until the local authorities had arrived on scene and had assisted with the removal of the Hall of Doom, Batman and Red Hood had taken Robin directly to the Watchtower where upon arrival he was taken to the medical bay for emergency treatment and recovery.

The rest of the League returned not long after having disposed of the gamma containers and reactor core safely. Now the League reflected on the past few days and the lead up to the events in Gotham and Metropolis, the Young covert team had disobeyed orders and had gotten Robin hurt as a result and as much as they wanted to dish out the punishment to the team they felt it right that Robin, if he wanted to, would give the punishment to them. 

As of now however, Robin was still in recovery and in a medically induced coma to help him heal, so all the League could do was wait and the wait was eating at all of them but none more then Batman and Red Hood. 

"This sucks" Red Hood says to no one in particular
"I know it does but there's nothing more we can do now" Batman responds
"we just have to wait for Dickie to recover" Flash says
"how long do you think that will take?" Red Hood asks
"a couple of days? a week? or could be a month, no more than that though" Superman says and then there's an uncomfortable silence for what feels like hours
" I'm just gonna ask it since we're all thinking it" Red Hood begins "what are we actually gonna do about the team?" he asks and everyone present seems to think about that, no one could think about a good way to punish them,

the computer rang out through the main hall of the Watchtower as Roy materialised and walked towards the League,
"why did I have to find out about Dick being kidnapped after you recovered him?" Roy yells at them fury plastered all over his face
"its not that we didn't want to, we had two priorities at the time" Flash answers
"we had to recover Dick and investigate what exactly happened on that covert mission that night" Batman explains further
"covert mission?" Roy asks now curious
"the team were sent to Gotham to investigate strange happenings at the Port of Gotham with Robin in charge of the mission" Superman explains
"Kid Flash informed us that the team disregarded Robins orders and went in when activity was beginning to occur" Wonder Woman continues
"so why haven't you done anything about it yet?" Roy asks
"Arrow, Black Canary, Manhunter and Captain Marvel are currently investigating and should be done soon" Batman finishes
"I want them to pay for putting Dick in this type of situation to begin with" Roy says bitterly taking a seat next to Wally who has been unusually quite and began to wait just like the rest of them

the computer announced to the Watchtower as the investigation team arrived, walking over to the League,
"we have our findings" Canary announces
"yes, and it is most conclusive" Manhunter adds
"so what is it?" Superman asks as the whole League edges forwards to find out
"Superboy and Aqualad appear to be our instigators in this whole mess" Canary explains
"Aqualad?" Roy questions
"yes, Aqualad and Superboy didn't think Robin was ready to lead the team, even after strict instructions, so they took the liberty to lead to team that night" Canary continues to explain and by the end Wally, Roy and Batman all looked beyond pissed 
"Robin is more than capable to lead a team" Roy says
"that's not what they think, they think because he's thirteen that he's to young" Arrow explains
"Superboy isn't even technically a teenager" Roy says angry
"let's just wait until Robin wakes up" Red Hood suggests trying to avoid the topic of the team now that he knew what happened.

The Watchtower
February 10, 9:30am EDT.
Five days, it had been five days since Robin was admitted to The Watchtower medical bay and their had been little change in his condition but he was stable.
Patient Condition Updated 
The computer announced to the Watchtower inhabitants which got everyone's attention, Batman and Red Hood were the first to move and make their way towards the medical bay soon followed by Roy and Wally. Batman removed his cowl and Red Hood took off his helmet and mask as they made their way down the long hall to see Robin.

When they made it to the room Robin was in they found a site they had been hoping to see for the past five days, Robin had awoken himself from the medically induced coma and was now laying in bed scanning the room to find out where he was,
"Hey Dickie" Jay says being the first to speak, Dick turning his head to face his brother
"Hey, where am I?" Dick asks
"You're in the Watchtower medical bay" Bruce answers
"How did I get here?" Dick asks
"How much do you remember?" Jason counters pulling up a seat next to his brother
"I remember the mission in Gotham, then the docks blowing up, I remember the Joker beating me and then not much after that" Dick answers trying his best to recollect his thoughts and memories of that night
"Remember our investigation into that new mysterious group of villians?" Bruce questions
"yeah, but it got us nowhere" Dick answered
"that group is who was there that night, they called themselves the Legion of Doom" Bruce explains
"Dumb name" Dick responds and Jason cracks a smile as does Bruce, Wally and Roy
"yeah we know Dickie" Roy says
"how long have I been here?" Dick asks changing the topic
"five days, we had to put you in a medically induced coma to help you heal" Roy explains
"Five days?" Dick questions surprised 
"you didn't miss much dude" Wally pipes up
"and how long do I have to stay here for?" Dick asks
"at least another day and then we'll take you back Home" Bruce answers
"ok" Dick responds laying back in the medical bed

The worst part had come to an end but now all that was needed was for Robin to recover.
"I know this might be hard Dick but do you remember how the events at the docks started" Bruce asks
"Superboy wanted to go to the warehouse, I guess Aqualad agreed. I tried to tell them to stop, Wally did to but they all made their way into the warehouse without us, then we saw explosions and called you guys to come" Dick explained "whats gonna happen to them?" Dick asks
"the Justice League has decided that you can give the punishment to the team" Bruce answers
"why me?" Dick asks
"why not?" Roy counters "it was their fault that you ended up in this situation" Roy says
"i'll think about it" Dick concedes

Wayne Manor
February 14th, 9:00am EST.
Dick had recovered well and was allowed to continue his healing at home, so Bruce had taken Dick back to Gotham where they now were, Dick relaxing in the living room while Bruce was busy trying to conclude a business deal for Wayne Enterprises.

it was early morning currently and Dick had tried to take the chance to get some more sleep but he just couldn't, after everything that had happened his mind was racing, why did they not listen to him? they knew how dangerous Gotham could be right? did they not trust him? that thought swirled through his head for awhile, they didn't trust him, why didn't they trust him? was it because they didn't know his secret ID? its not his fault that he can't tell them, it could of been more then that though Dick refused to believe that they didn't trust him.

Meanwhile, Roy and Wally who had come over to keep Dick company were busy trying to find a movie for all of them to watch, they knew Dick would think about the team and what to do and so they wanted to get his mind away from that a quickly as possible,
"what should we watch?" Wally asked after a minute of searching
"no idea" Roy replies
"its kinda strange how Dickie healed so fast though" Wally blurts out
"I know, but it could just be nothing" Roy says
"its best not to talk about Dick behind his back" Jason says entering the room
"but you saw it to right?" Wally asks
"I have and he'll tell us when he wants to" Jason answers "now find a movie so we can keep Dick occupied for the whole day" Jason says leaning against the doorway and it only takes another minute to find a movie before they make their way back to Dicks room.

When they return Dick is sitting up in bed, his eyes watery and his lips quivering,
"Dickie, whats wrong" Jason exclaims crouching next to his brother
"The team, they don't trust me" Dick answers
"what do you mean?" Roy asks sitting next to him
"why else would they do what they did?" Dick asks
"if they don't trust you after all this time dude, I don't think the team is worth our time" Wally says frowning
"what are you talking about West?" Jason questions
"you mean like a break from the team?" Dick asks
"depends on how long you want away from them" Wally says
"can we spend the next few weeks here?" Dick asks
"anything you want little brother" Jason smiles
"we found a movie by the way" Wally says changing the topic as Jason wipes the tears from Dicks eyes
"yeah, that zombie movie you like" Roy says
"wait we still have it?" Dick asks Jason
"sure do, now lets watch it" he answers as Roy puts the DVD in and Wally turns the tv on and as the opening credits begin to roll Dick lays his head against his brothers and tries to forget about the past few days.
