As they rode, the ghouls easily kept in time with the Prince as the hooves hit the ground in thuds before there was a shout from the Prince as he leaped into battle as humans guarded the Chapel.
Jorelia jumped off of her horse, letting it run off as her hand reached around to grasp at the sword in her scabbard, running at the first human she saw, landing her sword blade on the shield that this woman she now fought made a clash and spark of fury rise.
As brute as Jorelia was, the strength this woman had over powered the girl before Jorelia’s eyes caught a blur of bone before a ghoul had joined the fight against the human. The girl’s grip tightened on her sword before jabbing at the woman who fought against the Knight and ghoul. Two on one, yet this woman was still able to hold them off.
Fury rose in Jorelia as the woman pushed back against the two fighting her. What was this chaos? This woman was much stronger than anyone Jorelia fought. She could not keep to her thoughts for long before the woman swiped her sword at Jorelia, knocking her back onto the ground.
Jorelia was fast though, using the force that knocked her back, she rolled backwards and left the ghoul to fight the woman as her feet landed hard on the dirt with every push of muscle that she gave to run.
Running did not do well though at this fight, Jorelia was met with a man in front of her, being stabbed in the arm with a dagger before finally lifting her sword to swipe at him, missing as he dodged.
This fight isn’t going to go well. Jorelia thought as she sneered and growled at the man wanting this fight to end already.
“I can’t control it…” Darion’s voice reached Jorelia’s ears, making the girl look to the corner of her eye to him seeing him holding the Corrupted Ashbringer, his sword that he had for so long now, had been fighting against him.
Looking back to the man, her sword pushed through an open spot, hitting the man in the chest letting blood spill as he yelled in pure agony and anger. The girl was astonished when the man kept fighting until his last breath escaped his lungs, falling to the dirt joining his blood.
Jorelia looked at the dirt as her lungs begged for air, looking at the bodies that already lay there. Death Knights and warriors of the Chapel had already been laying there. This was the worst battle the Knights have fought.
“What’s happening to me?!” Darion shouted, his hand had let go of the sword in his hand as it fell to the ground.
The yelling made the main chief of the Chapel stop in the battle, followed by the rest of the warriors and Death Knights, along with the Prince and his ghouls.
Jorelia watched the scene with curiosity as Darion fell to the ground in a thud. The chief of the Chapel walked over to the Knight, kneeling down beside him.
“Darion Mograine… What has happened to you?” The chief spoke to Darion as if he were an old friend. Confusion swept over everyone as there was a second Darion beside the original.
This Darion, however, looked more human. His skin hadn’t been the pale ice that it was before. Though this Darion was also transparent as yet another person appeared further ahead of the replica of Darion.
Jorelia looked between the two Darions and then the third person, who had also been transparent though he looked much older and wiser from what the girl could actually see.
“Dad…” Transparent as this Darion was, his voice was much more boyish than it really was at this point. The word that escaped his mouth made the people watching gasp in shock looking to the other man as young Darion ran over to him.
“Darion, I do not want you getting into fights or battles yet.” His father stated, putting a hand on his son’s shoulder trying to make his point clear and lasting as the boy frowned in frustration.
“But dad, I want to fight alongside you. Please.” Darion begged his father as the man shook his head.
“I need you to take care of your mother. You need to be a man of the house, not of war.” At the last words that his father spoke, young Darion smiled at realizing his father needed him to do this. Understanding finally, he gave him a nod before the two transparent disappeared when a metal hand wisped through them, as if wiping away the smoke from a fire.
This Darion that had fallen to his knees in pure agony slowly stood back up, looking to the metal hand as the Lich King appeared between the disappearing fogs.
“How touching…” The Lich King muttered as he entered the forgotten battlefield as the ghouls suddenly fell back to bones, disintegrating into the soil once again. “Now I don’t see why the battle stopped. It was just getting interesting.” He continued, brushing the transparent Darion and his father over his shoulder as if it had been nothing out of the oridinary.
Jorelia stood watching the King with a horror stricken expression as the scene dissolved into her mind. Darion stood strong as he faced the King, taking off his helmet to take a good look at the armor covered monster.
“I remember now… I remember it all. How could I even forget? You made me kill my father after he told me I couldn’t go with him. You gave me this sword. This sword of the Light is what killed my father!” The Death Knight shouted at the King, his face retorted in pure agony, horror and realization at the sudden long ago betrayal the King set on him.
Jorelia stared at the King with pure disbelief. Was it positive that this was true? All the hope and pride she had for her King suddenly disappeared just as the fog did when the hand of this man pushed them away, like it had meant purely nothing to him. Was this what they were all made for?
The Prince even stood back in disbelief, watching the scene before snapping and walking to the King, sword in his hand as he yelled.
“Are past lives what you’re destroying?! Is that all we are to you? You don’t even care for us do you?!” The Prince yelled at the King’s face, waiting for some type of response.
All the King had done was bring out his own sword, swishing at the Prince once, piercing the skin and letting the blood spill carelessly around his armor and cloak. “No.” Was his response to the Prince, looking down at the Prince on the ground.
