He didn't love her from first sight.
He took the time to get things right
And he touched her like she was infinitely precious.

He drew a design and built up his strength
Before letting the brick walls fall
On to the ground

He loved her to ruins, unafraid of the
wreckage that came crashing down—
And bled out on the pavement.

She didn't fall in just one night.
She kept the lid on her feelings tight
And she held onto his warm hands with
cold feet.

She dipped her toes in the shallow waters
Before letting the currents completely draw her
Into the sea.

She emptied her lungs, unafraid of the
storms it may cause—
And drowned in the rain.
