Scenario - Cap, Bucky, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Agent 13 and Falcon have moved on from the situation with Tony, when the others leave to gather information, Bucky had to face his issues head on.
---
It had been 2 weeks after the incident with Tony and the reveal of multiple Winter Soldiers, and no one had made contact.
"I guess this worked out okay?" Steve sat opposite Buck, trying to raise the soldiers spirits.
"I guess," Bucky nodded, still unsure.
"Come on. We can't dwell on this forever," He sighed
"No, I know, I'm sorry-"
Steve cleared his throat and stood up, "Yknow, we could always head out to help the others"
Bucky nodded "You go, I don't feel like I'm ready to go back out."
He nodded, "Take your time Buck. You don't have to leave again until you're ready. I'm going to find the others, but I'll be back very soon. Just- relax,"
Bucky nodded, "Yeah."
Steve ran a hand through his hair and then turned to leave the room, looking back once before leaving and closing the door.
Bucky sighed to himself and rested his feet up on the coffee table, he flicked through the channels, looking for something to watch- and failing. He decided to lay back on the sofa and close his eyes- recently had been very stressful and the guilt of Tony's parents still lingered, clouding his brain and stopping him from concentrating.
He must've laid for at least 2 hours before he heard anything else.
A sudden slam dragged him back to reality, he shot up bolt right, sat looking around the room, after figuring that it had been his imagination, he laid back down.
"Bucky." A familiar, deep voice came from above him, he opened his eyes immediately, his brain working hard to put that voice to a face. Tony.
Bucky's face must've shown distress, because a small grin crept over Tony's lips. "Nice to see you again soldier." The corners of his mouth stayed curled devilishly.
"Tony?!" Buck scrambled backwards, trying to keep his cool. He forced a blank expression to cover his panic.
"I believe we didn't finish our conversation last time we saw each other." Tony stated, edging forward
"Tony, look, your parents, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.." He stood to his feet
"I heard.." He shrugged
"So-" he laughed falsely "You've no reason to be mad at me."
"Except. You did brutally murder my parents, regardless on whether you intended to or not." He shot a piercing look at Buck, at this point, he began to panic.
"Listen.. Steve will be back soon, we can talk this over." He stepped back again.
"I'm sorry Bucky. I wish I didn't have to do this,"
He looked confused. What was he going to- his thoughts were interrupted by Tony throwing a punch across his jaw, he stumbled back from the impact. Buck stood straight, he had to fight. No matter how hard that might be, he raised his fists, ready for Tony's next attack.
Tony surprised him by sliding his leg round Bucky's and pushing him off of his feet, he hit the ground hard.
"What's wrong soldier?" Tony teased. Bucky returned the favour by pulling his feet from under him too. Both men were now on the floor, wrestling. Buck swung multiple times, blackening Tony's eye, Tony did the same. Eventually, Tony eventually managed to shove Bucky up against the wall, he was sick of this. He wanted to end this fight.
"You're dismissed- soldier" Tony frowned a little and pulled out a pistol. Then, before he could do anything, a bullet pierced Bucky's stomach, he fell back, sliding down the wall slowly, Tony left in a hurry.
Blood flowed out from the wound, why? He hadn't mean to kill them. He was ordered.
Bucky felt his skin turn cold and began choking, blood became coming up his throat, dripping from the corners of his mouth. He was a dead man. Did he deserve this? Maybe. He held his hands tightly on his stomach.
Just as he decided to give up the struggle, he heard Steve.
"Bucky? Hey? I'm back- oh. God-" he ran over and fell to his knees in front of his weakened body. Sam and Sharon stood in the doorway, watching the incident unfold.
"Don't die on me Bucky. Don't you dare die on me..." Cap frantically applied pressure on the wound, his best friends blood seeping through his fingers. His eyes grew heavy as he tried not to cry,
"Steve.." Buck managed to choke "It's- o-okay."
Steve's breath hitched as he looked Bucky up and down "No. You can't leave me... No."
Bucky's blood soaked hands slid from under Steve's and held his shoulders "P-Pleasure- t-t-to ser-ve with a-a man-n like y-y-you...." His voice slowed, so did his breathing.
His best friend was dying and there was nothing he could do about it.
"Buck.... You did good." He managed to smile falsely, Bucky returned it and slowly his eyelids dropped.
His breathing stopped completely and Steve's confidence collapsed, he pulled Bucky's lifeless body closer to him and let a warm, salty tear fall down his cheek.
He spoke softly, his voice filled with pain "Goodnight soldier..."
