Valentinas's point of view.

I drew my breath, wiped my sweat off and ascertained that I was a little early. The airport me and my traveling companion had placed our feet in teemed with life.

High end stores, cheap and expensive restaurants, 7-elevens and not to forget to mention the duty free where everyone picked up a dozen of unnecessary items.

The gates were filled with people waiting for their loved ones to come home or waiting to embark on a new adventure.

I hugged my traveling companion farewell and scanned the crowd. Some of them were sobbing, both out of happiness and sadness. Me and three others had traveled together all the way from Spain to Sydney, so hopefully I would meet up with them at some point during our exchange year.

A few tens of meters away I could glimpse a large white poster with something written on it in red.

"Bienvenido a Australia Valentina Abaroa"

I had promised myself not to get too architecturally overwhelmed, but when I saw what was to be my family and my life during the following year, I couldn't help myself and ran toward them.

"Oh my god, hey!" I exclaimed and hugged Mali, the daughter of the family, which I had chatted with mostly pre, besides host mother Joy.

After hugging Mali I hugged my host mother, host father, David, and then smiled to host brother, Calum. He seemed quite indifferent to me, but I gave him a hug anyway.

On the forty minute trip to my new home from the airport I'd gotten to know some things about my host brother. He was very shy, smoked cigarettes hence to an intimidating smell and he had quite the attitude.

Whenever Joy asked him to roll up or down the window he answered with a muted humph. I really liked my host family, but I was very uncertain about Calum.

When we got to the house Mali showed me around. They had a nice garden filled with flowers that blossomed wildly, and a roundly shaped pool that were placed in the centre of the garden.

My room was perfect. There was a huge bed, which I couldn't wait to get to sleep in.

"How do you like it so far?" Mali asked, smiling at me. She was standing in the doorway.

"I love it, I really think I'm going to enjoy myself this year," I answered. She smiled again, nodded and got back to her own room.

I sat down on the bed. Finally I had gotten to Australia. Spain was lovely, but I had always dreamt of the far away land.

After taking it all in, I went down to the living room where everyone was, except for Calum.

I sat down beside Joy on one of the couches. "I really want to thank you for opening your home to me, it means a lot to me to be able to come and live here for an entire year," I said, looking at everyone when I talked.

"It is all our pleasure. It's our first time host parenting someone, and we really can't wait to get to know you, Dear," David said. Everyone nodded approvingly. I smiled at them, while Joy stroke my shoulder.

"Well, it's been a great first day, but since you start school in two days, and since your travel was long you would maybe want to get some sleep," Joy said, and I agreed. I was feeling really tired. The thought of going to school only two days after my arrival was not the best though.

I chose to wait until the day after to unpack my baggage, and went to the bathroom to brush my teeth.

As I passed Calum's room I could hear small moans. I couldn't manage my curiosity and took a peak into the creak in his door.

He was lying on his bed, jacking off to something on his computer next to him. I quickly backed away from his door and rushed to the bathroom.

I felt embarrassed and exposed, even though he was the one who should feel that way. Never had I ever seen anyone do such a thing, and I never wanted to see it ever again.
