It had been a few months and everything was getting better for Monica, her Devon was still dating and things were as good as they could be on that end. Monica didn’t miss Jordan but, she missed the good times they use to have. Things happen for a reason that’s all Monica would remind herself, Devon had led up to his promises she never had to question or second guess him. Monica was looking at Devon with new eyes, she felt the L word coming into existence but she wasn’t yet sure. Devon had convinced Monica to even work things out with her family; they had gone over one day after Devon got off work. Monica was happy to be back in connecting with her family, especially after seeing her mother she missed them she just hope no drama would pop off again. In the past month Devon had showed her a new world, taking her not only on dates but he took her to New Orleans with him for one of his job meetings, since his mother passed Devon and his father were working on their bond as well. Everything she wanted was coming together she had a good job, a good man and had her family back. It was Thursday morning Monica walked through the hospital doors clocking in, she headed to her desk taking a seat she spanned around in her chair and pulled out some new sign in sheets. It was a slow morning Monica didn’t mind though she was tired from the night before Devon had come over; they spent the whole evening talking the kissing lead to the bedroom and then he left since he had work the next morning. Although Monica had just got to work she was already ready to leave Whitney and Shanti were coming over tonight for a girls night in she couldn’t wait, grabbing her clipboard she showed the first patient to their room.
Devon woke up it had been a rough few months since the death of his mother, but he was appreciative of the time and help Monica gave him. Stepping out the bed he headed into the shower something had been on his mind lately and he was going to follow through with it. Heading out the apartment Devon got in his car and headed to the office, there was a lot of morning traffic. Walking into his office Devon started working on a few cases he had left when a tap came at his door, a gentlemen walked in
“Good morning Mr. Cater I’m Ray Lewis I use to handle your mothers financial and business papers” The gentleman said walking in
“Alright please have a seat” Devon said getting up to shut the office door and heading back to sit behind his desk
“Were you aware your mother left a will” Mr. Lewis asked
“No I wasn’t” Devon said his eye brow rising
“Well I’m just here to give you your mother’s will” Mr. Lewis said handing over a golden envelope
“She never mentioned you to me” Devon said looking over at Mr. Lewis
“Yes I know, Ms. Cater was a private woman” Mr. Lewis answered
“Well thank you for coming by” Devon said putting the envelope into his desk and walking Ray out his office
“Have a good day Mr. Cater and I’m sorry for your loss” Mr. Lewis said before leaving. Devon headed back in to his office after working out a few more cases he slip his desk open, pulling out the golden envelope he took a deep breath in and tore the letter open, there were a few things about houses but at the final statement his mother had left him a total amount of 500,000, closing the envelope he tucked it into his jacket pocket and headed out the office. Walking out of the office Devon stepped into his car and started playing some music
Got me up all night
All I'm singing is love songs
She got me up all night
Constant drinkin' and love songs
She got me up all night
Down and out with these love songs
