Chapter 33| Lonely

So, we all went to Fran's house. There, we sat down together and handed her the book. "Let's see here..." She began to read it.

"It says how to change him back!" She said. "How?" Levy asked, curious. "All I have to do is say a spell. It's quite simple, I'm not that much of a wizard and it looks easy to me." She said.

"Then go for it!" I said. She started the spell. Her body began to glow. It blasted power at the puppy, and before we knew it, he'd transformed. It was her dad.

She hugged him. He was confused. Apparently he hadn't remembered his time as a dog. She was so happy to see him, it brought tears to my eyes.

Finally, though, we had to leave. Fran thanked us and said we would meet again someday. We thanked HER and began our journey back home. We got to the Guild around lunch time.

The day was quite boring, surprisingly. Natsu and Gray got into a couple of fights, but other than that, it was a peaceful day.

Finally, though, it ended. Natsu and I started to walk to my apartment. As soon as we were out of the Guild, he slipped his hand into mine. I felt my blush but didn't say anything as we continued walking. "Hey, Luce." Natsu said, breaking the silence.

"Yeah?" I asked. "Maybe we should just... Stop doing jobs for a couple of weeks." He said. "We'd starve if we did that. How about just me and you go on one? One that seems simple?" I suggested. "I still wanna take a break, though." He said.

"Why? Normally you won't take a break." I said. "I wanted to spend time with you!" He gave me that cute grin. We continued walking in comfortable silence, hand in hand.

Happy flew up beside us. "Hey, guys!" He said. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!!" Natsu asked. "I took a job." He said. "You took a job?!" He asked. "Yeah. It was really simple, I just wanted some fish so bad..." He said.

Natsu groaned. "Where are you two lovebirds headed?" Happy asked. "Back to my apartment." I said. "Cool!" Happy said.

So, a week passed. Natsu and I really got to know each other and just talk. It felt amazing. I was so happy to be his girlfriend. We really connected with each other.

A few months passed. Me and him just took on a few jobs alone, and also with Erza and Gray. Life was pretty good. But, then Natsu started getting distant. He started being away from the apartment/Guild more, and when he did arrive, he wouldn't tell me where he was going.

Okay, back to present time.

The door opened. I looked up from the TV to see Natsu. "Hey, Luce!" He said. I looked back at the TV screen. "Hi." I said non enthusiastically. "What's wrong?" He asked. "Look, I'm not forcing you to date me. If you don't like me, just break up with me." I said as he sat down, looking him in the eye.

"What?! What makes you think that?!" He asked. "You never hang around me anymore!! You just leave!!!" I argued. His shoulders sunk. "I'm sorry, Luce. I just-I have to." He said.

"Whatever it is, it better be worth it." I said. He put his arm around me. "It is." He said.

The next day, events went down. I went to the Guild to meet up with Levy. Big surprise, Natsu was gone this morning. "Hey, Levy!" I said. "Hi! How's it goin'?" She asked. "Natsu's makin' me mad." I said.

"Oh. He's still not trying to change for you?" She asked. "No! He's not! And last night he tried to sweet-talk me." I rolled my eyes. "Sometimes I don't even think we should be dating anymore." I said.

"Maybe it's for the best?" She asked. "I doubt it. Hey, have you seen him in the Guild Hall at all?" I asked. "Not this morning." She said. "I need to find out where he's been going. Let's go talk to Mira, maybe she'll know." I said.
