Chapter 37 | Day One Was Freaking Awesome!

As we sat on the beach, making our lump of a sandcastle, our hands touched. He looked up at me with a soft smile. I blushed and returned it.

"Luce, you are just too awesome." He said. "So are you." I said, poking him in the shoulder. "I promise I'll never leave you again." He said. "Good." I said.

He leaned closer until our lips touched. We kept the kiss small because there were kids around, but it was amazing.

When he pulled away, I just smiled softly. "Now, Luce! How about we go wade in the water again?" He asked. "Sure." He grabbed my hand and ran towards the water.

We walked around, hand in hand for a while. Finally, we stopped and went to a couple of beach chairs that were put there by whoever owned the beach.

We sat down in the chairs. They weren't too far away from each other. "I can't believe I'm actually here..." I said.

"It's pretty awesome." He agreed. "It was my dream when I was little to come here. But I quickly realized because of my dad I would never get here. Then you came along. And I got new hope about my life. I realized that I might get friends after all. I might have a family. And I found Fairy Tail. Where one of my dreams came true. But, it wasn't even about the fact that I am a member of the Guild I'd wanted to join since I was five-it was my great friends and the family we had in that Guild that made everything worth it. And you don't know how much you helped me without even trying. You were one of the main reasons I stayed in the Guild as long as I have. And now we're here-in Hawaii." I said, having gotten into a rant.

"You really don't know how much you helped me, too. Ever since Lisanna 'died' I'd never been the same. Sure, on the outside, I was this goofy guy that was too dense to feel feelings, but once alone, I was pretty depressed. Everything was an act. I don't want people to think I'm soft! So, I put on a smile and occasional fight with Gray. But, then I met you. And this time, my smile was sincere. And it has been, ever since I met you." He said.

We sat a minute in silence, me trying to get my tomato red face to not be tomato red. "Wow... We just got deep." I said. He laughed, "Yep, guess so!" He said

"Do you want to do something?" I asked. "Let's just sit here a while. What time is it?" He asked. "It's 1 o'clock." I said.

"Alright. Let's just chill for a while." He said, something I was surprised to hear come out of his mouth. I moved my chair to where it was right beside him and we held hands, watching the waves. After a while, I put my head on his shoulder.

After a very long time in comfortable silence, I was the first one to speak, "Do you want to go do something now?" I asked. "Sure. Like what?" He asked. "I dunno, you're the one that's running this trip, give me some options." I said.

"We could go on a hike through the forest...?" He suggested. "We'll save that for later. Anything else?" I asked. "We could go shopping but I'm afraid not much will be bought." He said.

"Anything else?" I asked, feeling a little guilty that none of his suggestions are very good. "I dunno.... OH!" He said.

"What?" I asked, startled by his new excitement. "WE COULD GO SNORKELING!!!" He said. "Oh, yeah." I said.

"It would be so pretty when we're not so far underwater like our LAST beach trip!!!" He said. I think back to our beach trip with Gray and Erza. "Yeah..." I agreed.

We went and rented snorkeling stuff and dove in. It was so pretty underwater.

The light cast beautiful shadows in the water at the colorful plant life and fish swimming about. It was surprisingly bright down here, so I wasn't scared of any shark attack or anything like that.
