Chapter 3

Eleanor's POV

Hazel and I quickly walk out to the living room again.

"Sorry to ruin the fun but we have an emergency," I say to my teachers.

"What's the matter?" Mr. Ler-... Tobi asks as he notices the worried expressions on our faces.

"Um, this is gonna be hard to say but... Brayden... he has to take pills and he kinda forgot to take them before he left so we need to get them to him or else he could be hospitalized... again!" Hazel panics. They exchange worried and confused glances.

"Uh, it's ok, we'll call Harry and let him know. Let's go get in the car," Simon reassures.

"Hurry! Hurry!" Hazel shouts.

"Hazel, calm down! You cant have a panic attack now!" I shout at Hazel.

"Everyone remain calm!" Vik says, trying to help the situation.

"Let's just go," JJ shouts and grabs his car keys, "Josh, Simon, Hazel, and El, go in Simon's car. Ethan, Vik, Tobi and I will go in my car."

We all run outside, pills in my hand, and Hazel and I climb into the back seats of Simon's car and Josh and Simon get in the front seats.

"I'm freaking out!" Hazel screams as Simon starts the car.

I roll my eyes and say, "Listen, H. Im freaking out, too. But right now, we need to calm down for the sake of Brayden!"

She sighs and looks out the window.

"I'm gonna call Harry," I nod my head and look out of my window as I fiddle with the pills in my hand.

"Hey," Josh says.

"...yeah, we're coming to the dance place. We were babysitting Hazel and Eleanor and they said that Brayden forgot to take his pills and he needs them..."

"...ok..."

"...be there soon, see you."

Then, he hangs up and we sit in silence for a while.

"By the way," I start, "you aren't babysitting us. You are just keeping an eye on us so we don't do anything stupid. We aren't babies," I say from the backseat.

Josh and Simon chuckle a little.

"She has a point," Hazel defends.

Hazel's POV

As we head to the dance place, we come to a stop. The other guys make it past the traffic and head to the place. I start shaking and start moving my head to see what is going on.

"Hey, calm down. Sit in your seat," El says.

"Really?! Traffic! What the hell is going on?" Simon yells.

Josh rolls down his window and asks an officer what happened, "There was a crash. We're trying to get an ambulance to two places at once."

We start to drive around the traffic and I am shaking even more than usual. El gives a pity hug to me, and tries to calm me down. I start to calm down until Josh gets an unsettling phone call.

".....yes? ..... No, we just got out of traffic.... he what?! Shit shit shi-" Josh looks back at me and takes in a deep breath, "We'll be there soo- I'm sorry what? I can't hear you over the sirens in the background."

"Put him on speaker. I could probably hear him," Simon suggests.

Josh does as he says and I prepare myself for what I'm about to hear.

"WE'RE LOSING HIM! Pack everyone up and operate in the ambulance! WE DON'T HAVE TIME YOU IDIOTS! JUST GO! GO! GO! Does anyone know this kid's name?" A lady yells.

"I'm sorry, I should g-"

"Sir, this is a crime scene, you need to leave," the lady says to JJ.

JJ hangs up and we rush over to the hospital. We take so many shortcuts just to get to the hospital. Once we make it there, I run directly in and Simon follows me. He grabs me by the arm and pulls me into a hug, "you need to calm down. He will be okay."

I nod my head and start bawling my eyes out. The others come and we ask the lady where Brayden was taken.

"He should be down the hall and to the right. But in order to help him, the doctors need space. Can you please sit in the waiting room?" The others do as they are told but I stay there. Josh notices my reluclantness and comes over to get me.

"Sir, are you the father?"

"Uh, no. I'm their teacher, neighbor and babysitter."

"I don't have a father," I say bluntly.

"Where is your mother?" She asks.

"Work."

"Alright. Do you know her number?"

"Yeah. Here," I write it down and give it to the lady.

"Thank you. You can sit down now."

Josh leads me back to the seats and I sit down. My leg is tapping and I can't stop being overly anxious.
