Hazel's POV

"Momma, what happened to me?"

"You just had a surgery. They fixed your lungs. You're all better now, Hazel!"

"Really!? I am?"

My mom lets out a chuckle, "Yea! No more treatments. Nothing! You're all better now!"

I smile and laugh at the thought of never having to do any appointments again.

"Are you ready to go home and see Brayden and Ellie?"

"Yea!"

"Yeah? Let's go!" My mom helps me up and we make our way through the hospital to the car.

I wake up to the sound of voices. I look down under my bunk bed and see Ellie next to Brayden on the floor. As I study their actions, Eleanor looks up at me and I see it in her eyes. She looks like she's been crying.

"Ellie, what's happening?"

"It's Brayden. He doesn't remember what he was doing and he fell down. He looks really pale."

I quickly climb down the ladder and go to Ellie's side. I put my hand on Brayden's heart then quickly lift my hand back up.

"It hurts, Hazel," he says with a shortness of breath. His eyes close and I feel a tear escape my eye.

"Mommy! Daddy!"

Soon enough, they burst through the door to see everything. They nudge me out of the way and my dad quickly picks up Brayden. I look back at my sister and she lowers her head.

"What's wrong?"

"Brayden told me something."

"What did he say?"

"He told me not to tell you this but, he asked God to take him instead. He knew you had those troubles and he wanted them to go away for you."

"What does that mean?" I look at her in confusion, waiting for what she's going to say.

The room goes silent and Ellie lets one tear drip from her eye.

"It means he wanted you healthy. He wanted to take away your pain to put on him. That way for the rest of your life, you wouldn't have as many problems."

"But now he's in trouble! What if he goes away and it's all my fault?"

"I don't know. I hope he's okay."

We decided that today we were going to visit Brayden in the hospital. Daddy said he would take us to visit him and Mommy. Mommy has been staying with him for the past few... weicks.

We make it to his room and I look at mommy, who is sitting next to the bed Brayden is on. I walk to her and tug on her shirt. She turns around and wipes her face before looking at me.

"Mommy. What's happening with Brayden?"

"Oh," she sniffles, "He has some problems."

"Will he be okay?"

She starts to cry again. I look over to Brayden and see his eyes are still closed.

"Why isn't he waking up?"

"He's not going to wake up, Baby."

"What? But he-"

I'm interrupted by the monitor thingy going on a constant beep. I look at the monitor and the line that was making triangles is now flat. Doctors and nurses run in and quickly do something to my brother.

"He's alive!" I hear them yell in celebration.

It's been two years since the first incedent. It's happened many times after that too. For me, at least. Our dad has actually left us and we just found out that he died. Enough said.

-

I am paralyzed. I can only hear. I can't see a thing, my eyes won't open. The only thing I see is a bright white light. It's not my time. It can't be my time. Suddenly, I'm taken by darkness.

Wait. This happened before. Why is this happening again? I hear something. I can't quite make out what it is but it sounds familiar. It sounds like my teachers. I can't hear what they're saying. It's too muffled. I sense someone touching my hand. It feels as if it's Tobi.

I wake up to the sound of voices. I look down under my bunk bed and see Ellie next to Brayden on the floor. As I study their actions, Eleanor looks up at me and I see it in her eyes. She looks like she's been crying.

"Ellie, what's happening?"

"He's dead."

Climb down the ladder and hold him in my arms.

"Don't you see it? He's dead. B-e-a-b. Dead."

"Wha-?"

¤¤¤

"Open up this damn door, now!"

"Don't let him do it."

I hide under the bed. And he walks in. He takes Brayden by the collar of his shirt and throws him out of the room. He shuts the door and locks it. He goes up to Eleanor and he starts to stroke her. Without hesitation, he takes off her clothes and starts to take his off too. He has a camera and he's taking pictures of her. He's doing something super weird to her. He's having her bend over. He looks at me and pulls me from under the bed and he takes my clothes off too. Soon, he is putting something somewhere it shouldn't be.
