The Golden Watch

Chapter 1

Katherine is the prettiest girl in her school. She has long brown and soft hair. She has caramel skin and dark blue eyes. Even though she's pretty from outside similarly she's very nice from the inside. Katherine just finished 11th grade and she's not ready for summer because every summer her parents take her and her 9 year old sister to summer school. Katherine doesn’t like summer school on the other hand her younger sister enjoys it so much.

"This will be so much fun Katherine!" says Cassie.

I roll my eyes as I get my jacket. I'm wearing a plain dark grey tank top, black jeans, a black jacket and long black boots. Cassie is wearing a yellow shirt with bright blue shorts and yellow shoes.

"Katherine you're going to school not a funeral!" comments mom.

"Let her wear whatever she wants Alison" says dad.

"Come on Cassie let's go!" I say

"Ok, Just a second Katherine!" she says.

Cassie runs into the car. I start the car engine and start driving towards school. Our house is 1 hour away from summer school. It's very exhausting to drive there, but there's nothing that I can do. Cassie raises the radio volume and starts to sing along. She is always very hyper. When we reach school my head feels dizzy from the loud music of the car. Cassie jumps out of the car very fast. She has a wide smile on her face, and it pleases me to see her like that. She wasn't my only sister. I had an older sister she was 9 years old when she went missing, and I was 5. My parents searched for her for 10 years, but then they gave up. They think she died, but I believe that she is still alive, and she will come back. Cassie wasn't born at that time. We decided not to tell her about this story until she's old enough.

I met a bunch of my friends; we kept talking until the bell rang. My first class is Art. I've never loved Art; it has always been my worst activity. I guess it's because I don’t know how to draw or craft well. After school I go to get my keys and mobile from my locker. While I'm getting my things I hear someone sobbing. I look at my right and I find a girl at the age of about 10. I stare at her for a while.

"Are you alright?" I ask.

She looks at me without saying a word. She slams her locker and starts to run away quickly. She drops a watch, and I quickly grab it and call her out, but it's too late she's already far away. I look at the watch and it looks extremely bizarre. It's golden and has weird symbols on it. I put it in my pocket and decide to give it back to the girl the next day.

I pick Cassie up from her class. In the car, She starts to tell me about her day. After a while she stops, she lays down and sleeps. We reach at about 4:00 pm. I carry Cassie up to her room. I change my clothes and lay down on my bed. I look at the watch again. I turn it and try to read the English writing on the back. "Ghost Connection"I smile at the text. It's probably just an old watch. I put it on my desk and I fall asleep.

I wake up earlier than usual. I decide to take a shower before going to school. I wear a pink top with dark blue jeans and black trainers.  When I go downstairs I find everyone on the table having their breakfast. I eat yoghurt, grab the watch and go wait for Cassie in the car. We are starting to get late. After 15 minutes Cassie finally comes, and we are very late. I speed up the speed in the highway then suddenly a cat appears in the middle of the road I quickly step on the break. And a car hits us from behind.

I quickly get out of the car. The damage isn't big but I called my father. After about 20 minutes my dad came with a bunch of cops. He drove us to school then went directly back to the police office.  In school I try to look for the girl but I can't find her. I ask about her, but everyone seems confused. They say no one owns that locker. I decide to stop looking for her. While Cassie and I wait for dad to pick us up. I look at the watch and decide to wear it for the day.

"From where did you get that?" Cassie asks.

"A girl dropped it. So I decided to take it" I answer her.

"Can I have it?" Cassie asks me. I look at her for a few seconds.

"No sorry. Finders keepers" I say with a grin on my face.

Dad picks us up and we reach home at about 6 and I got so tired I change to my pajamas and I immediately go to bed. I close my eyes and I get into a very deep sleep. I start to have nightmares of my older sister, Jane. The images run in my dreams very fast but it seems to never end. I suddenly wake up frightened. I look at the time and its 6:10. it looks like I've been sleeping for only 10 minutes I get out of bed and open the door to check on everyone. I enter Cassie's room, but it looks different it looks exactly like Jane's room before Cassie was born. I walk inside and I'm freaked out at what I'm seeing. I find Jane happily sleeping on her bed. I start moving closer and closer to take a better look at her. I look at her she's so pretty. I glance at the mirror in front of me and I see a girl behind me! I gasp and turn quickly, but she's gone.  I walk back and start walking back to my room. I try to sleep, but I'm not able to fall asleep I look at the watch and the time is 6:25. I hear someone entering the room and I freak out I cover my face with the blanket. I hear the footsteps coming closer. I try to remove the watch but it's stuck.

"No! Please go away." I scream.

I close my eyes and when I open them I see Cassie looking at me like I'm a crazy person.

"Umm. Katherine? What's wrong with you?" she asks confusingly.

"I had a really bad nightmare" I say.

"Ok. Get up, we will be late" she says.

I dress up for school, and go into the car. I think of the dream that I had. It seemed so real, and it was very creepy to see my sister after a long time. In school I take Cassie to her class and when I enter her classroom I find the girl that dropped the watch!

"Hey! You dropped this the other day." I tell her. She widens her eyes in surprise.

"You can't wear this! You have to get rid …." She says as her voice drifts away, and she can't speak anymore. She storms out of the class.

"No wait! Come back please" I shout to her.

I sigh, I just go back to my class, and after class I get a text message from dad.

*Cassie is leaving early from school today. I'll pick her up, and you take a taxi to home.

 -Dad*

That's extremely weird. Dad never asks me to go on a taxi. I stand on the pavement waiting for a taxi. I suddenly feel pain in my veins. I look at them and the watch is pressing so hard on my skin! I try to pull it out but it's too hard. I start to scream from the pain and I feel that the world is spinning without stopping. In just a split second I'm on the ground and I see nothing but blackness.
