I set my bags on the bed. The room was empty, had white walls and a large wardrobe which had big mirrors on it. They were sliding doors.
I sat down, unzipping my bag and began to organise my clothes into places. I'd always been a tidy person; I liked to know where I kept things.
Shirts, jeans and nightwear in the wardrobe. Underwear in the middle drawer, bathroom essentials in the top drawer. Make up in the top drawer.
I sighed as I finished, and heard a knock on the door. "What do you want, Kai?" I asked, and he opened the door and peeked inside.
"Do you want anything to eat?" He asked. He had his key in the hand that was holding the door open, so he must be going down to the cafeteria at the bottom of the dorms to get some food.
"Um, just a toasted bagel, please." I said, before going back to unpacking. I heard him close the door, and leave the dorm.It only took about ten minutes to finish, and only ten minutes for Kai to come back. He had a tray and a bag. On the tray, was a toasted bagel, and a bowl of cereal. Probably for him. I couldn't see what the bag contained, but I was guessing ingredients for food for the week or tonight.
He set the bagel down on the coffee table which was in front of me - I was on the couch - and sat next to be with his bowl of cereal. We ate in silence, just the noise of crunching and the TV was heard.
Once I was finished, I took my plate to the kitchen, and dumped it into the sink. I came back out of the kitchen and almost bumped into Kai, as he was just going to the kitchen to probably dump his cereal bowl into the sink like I did with the plate.
It took me a while to realise, that we still needed to go and get our time tables.
"Kai." I called."What?"
"Are you coming to get your time table with me?"
"Oh, shit, yeah, sure." He smiled. I strolled to my room, slipped my shoes on and grabbed my key. Kai was already at the door, because he didn't take his shoes off.
We walked down the hall in silence again, and the elevator ride was silent. Everything was silent between us.
We arrived at the reception soon after.
"Back so soon?" The little old lady asked, raising an eyebrow at us, mainly me.
"Yes, I came for my time table. River Soare."Once again, her typing was quick and she soon found it. The buzz of the printer started to go, and out came an A4 piece of paper. She handed it to me, and I took it. I turned it over. It was a grid for all the lectures I had in the week.
"Kai Huistem." Kai told the lady, and she did the same. We shoved our time tables in our pockets.
"We should go explore." Kai grinned, looking down at me. I was only 5'7, and he must've been around 6ft.
"Meh, we don't start everything until tomorrow. And it's only..." I pulled my phone out and checked the time, "one, thirty-three."
"Plenty of time."We began to wander around, and I became more in-depth in my thoughts as I walked. I didn't realise, until I bumped into something. It didn't feel hard, and cold, like a wall. More soft. A person, of course.
I snapped out of my trance and looked at the girl. I was also on the floor, which I didn't realise. Books were spread around.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I told her, picking her books up and handing them to her.
"No, it's alright." She seemed quite shy, but she was looked very... Cute? I guess?I could hear snickers from Kai, and I gave him a cold glare.
"New here?" I asked, handing the last book.
"Yeah. Are you?"
"Yup. So is Kai. I'm River, by the way."
"Melaine."
I nodded, looking at Kai again.
"Well, we're going around to explore, do you want to come?" I asked and her face beamed.
"Id love to!" She grinned, shoving her books back into her bag.
