Chapter 6: The Appointment

My mom and I pulled into the parking lot of the hospital. We got out of the car and started walking towards the hospital's front doors. My mom and I walked in and went to the front desk. She needed to sit down since we had to park so far away from the doors. She told me what to say and I went up to the front desk. " um... I am here for an appointment for an ultrasound." and the lady behind the desk looked at me and asked "Hun, how old are you?" she said this with a scrunched up face and then I realized what she thought that I was the one who needed the ultra sound. "Oh no no no! Its not for me its for my mom." I said pointing at my mom and her baby belly.

The lady seemed relieved and then told me that the doctor will be right with us. About 10 minutes later the doctor came out and called us in. My mom laid down on the bed and they put the cool blue jelly on her stomach. They asked her how far along she was and the said about 1 month and a half or 2, cause she wasn't too sure. They could tell the gender of the baby by this time and when the doctor but the machine on my mom she seemed to not know what to do. She was obviously an intern and told my mom that she would page her real doctor so she can get a more clear view.

The girl doctor stayed with us till our doctor was done with his other patient and he came in and put more blue jell on my mom. He grabbed the machine in his hand and then looked at the screen. He looked surprised too. He then also asked my mom how far along she was and this time she said about 2 months. The doctor asked if her husband was here and then she seemed to be a little scared because when they ask if a relative is with you. So I started to be scared too.
          They told us that my mom wasn't having just one baby, but 6................
