“You say what now,” I shrieked in utter disbelief.
“Yeah, I’m your brother well your twin brother but your brother all the same. I’ve been searching for you for six months now going from pack to pack. The last pack I went to was the Riverside pack the Alpha Declan said he never even heard of you but the pack doctor and three children came to me just before I left. I have a letter and some things in my backpack from them,” he said honesty shining in his eyes.
“I believe you. Robert, tell them to let him go.” Robert made a motion with his hand waving to the enforcers. They let him go and he surged forward falling to the floor with a loud thud. He groaned out in pain as he pushed himself up off the ground. I reached down to help him up off the ground and looked at Robert, “Robert, I would like for us to finish this conversation in your office.”
“Of course Bambi,” he said as he escorted us through the hotel like house and up the stairs to his private office. When made it to the office when I was pushed forward into one of the chairs, something was latched onto my leg and it was pretty heavy too.
I looked down to see Sophia, “Sophia, let me go.”
“No, I don’t want to. I want to play dress-up,” she said looking at me with her big blue eyes.
“You know for a ten year old you sure act like your six,” I laughed out as I swooped down to detach her from my legs.
“I’m just in touch with my inner child unlike most kids my age,” she said crossing her arms pouting slightly.
“Well I’m sorry Sophia but I can’t play right now, I have some extremely important business to take care of. So go ask Derek if he can play with you and tell him I said that.”
“Okay,” she said before she skipped out of the office.
“Who was that and who is Derek? Why is everyone here protecting you like their life depends on it,” my brother asked me.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa; quit with the rapid fire question. How about we start with an introduction? How does that sound,” Robert interjected.
“Yeah, sure we can do that that seems fair. Okay, umm, my name is Cameron Thurburry. I’ve been looking for you for six months now because my mother told me I was adopted. I kind of already guessed that though because I lived in a house full of humans and well I’m a werewolf, but that’s beside the point. I’ve been looking for you and now that I’ve found you I’m not leaving your side.” Cameron said with a determined look on his face.
“Well if you are my ‘twin’ brother when is your birthday?” I asked him while giving him the eye I used to give Christine to make her laugh when her day was going bad.
“My birthday is April sixteenth,” he smirked.
“That could just be a coincidence, what year?” I rattled off.
“Nineteen ninety-six.”
“I still don’t think it’s true. Robert, can we get a blood test done, please?”
“Well why wouldn’t we? I still think he’s lying to us all but if you insist on it then yes we can. But only if you really want to,” Robert said as he picked up his office phone. He called the Oscar, the pack doctor, to tell him that we were coming in for a DNA test. I however I just stared at Cameron who was smiling at me like he’d just won a million dollars. Only my parents would know if he was telling the truth but then again my parents never cared for me much so what he’s saying could be very true.
An hour after the phone call to Oscar, the three of us were heading towards the pack hospital in downtown Eureka. Oscar was waiting in the reception area waiting for us to arrive, “I can have it done in less than twenty minutes. Just go to the last hallway and turn into the room on the right. I’ll be down in a few.”
True to his words he was there in a few moments and the blood test was started. It was painless and he told us in five minutes it would be done. So for the meantime I put in my head phones and listened to some music, it was music that made me feel like I was the only person in the world, that actually made me feel like I was cared about. When Ariana Grande’s song, Piano, came on I stood up completely forgetting I was in a room with other people and just singing like there was no tomorrow. I could feel the music coursing in my veins and the rush I was getting felt similar to what humans called a high.
The sound of someone clearing their throat brought me back to reality, the song was on repeat so it played several time and now I was covered in a thin layer of sweat. “Sorry,” I mumbled before I sat back down.
“So the tests came back positive. You two are brother and sister, so I think it would be in the good interest of the pack to let Cameron stay but it’s also for Aurora’s benefit.”
“I think it’s okay but he has to stay in the room right next to hers for protection because those girls are vile creatures,” Daniel chuckled as we all walked out of the office and back to the car. I ran to the passenger seat so I could get it and just as I reached the door I heard a growl. I froze in my spot because that wasn’t any growl that was his growl. Turning around slowly my eyes met Alpha Declan’s amber colored eyes and I could feel my throat constrict in fear before he even touched me.
“I told you I would find you if it was the last thing I did,” he whispered in my ear and before he had the opportunity to wrap his hand around my throat my instincts kicked in and I glided away from him. He spun around just as my hand whipped out to his throat. Those eyes that I once feared now held the look of a man scared to die. It was funny how karma worked in life but I just found the joy in this situation but something inside of me stirred uneasily and I let him go.
The man I’ve always wanted to kill would get the chance to kill me before I could ever have the guts to do it. “Did you really think you had it in you? You’re still the pathetic, useless, good for nothing,” he didn’t get the chance to finish his sentence because a growl as loud as ten wolves came from my mouth and I shifted faster than the blink of an eye. The previous feeling I had vanished when I started remembering all the things he had done to me.
He looked at my wolf and starting crying, “Dear goddess what have I done? Please forgive me, I didn’t know… I didn’t know honestly… I didn’t know,” I pitied him for the vile creature that he was but in my eyes he no longer deserved to live. Out of the kindness in my heart I asked him what his last request was in life and all he said was that for me to forgive him and to tell his pack that he is naming me as his only heir since he had no children and with his last wish granted, I tore into his throat ripping it to shreds in seconds.
I heard a low whistle come from behind me and my coat fluffed out and I’m not going to lie I probably looked like a giant poodle but who cares there is an unknown person walking up behind me. “I didn’t know you had it in you princess, now you’re going to be stuck with me for the rest of your life.” How in the world is he still alive?! I turned around to see his almost transparent body stepping closer to his now bloody one.
“How in the world are you still alive?!”
“I’m not princess, I’m dead obviously since you killed me but only moments ago.”
“B-but I… I’m so lost right now.”
“It doesn’t matter all that matters now is that you have finally arrived to save us all. I am truly sorry for all the pain I have caused you over the years and I know that because you just killed me the hatred you have for me burns deep within your heart but I also know from your hesitation earlier that you are indeed the White Savior; the savior, protector, hero, and queen of the entire werewolf race.”
