Nicholas's POV
I woke up and ran a hand through my light blonde hair. I sat up and looked out the window. Outside was plain and boring. Normally there would be a couple of people at the golf course and range by now, but it was quiet. I silently dressed in a white button down shirt, blue pants, and a matching tie. I know there's no point in dressing up, but it just felt natural. I walked over to my bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked more different everyday, but I guess that's what stress does. I remember when it was just me, Mom, Dad, and our butler, Joseph. It was happier.
Today it has been seventeen years exactly since I've lived here. I was hoping Marie would come in and say happy birthday, but I doubted she even cares about me anymore.
My mother and father were resting in a graveyard. Even though they had turned. Bradley, the servants, and I thought they needed a proper burial. I try not to think about them, but literally everything reminds me of the two. Marie has been my maid for eight years and she still forgets my name. Joseph favorites my brother, Bradley, who still didn't really know what was going on. Today, I decided that since it was my birthday, I could hang out all day. I went into the entertainment room and picked out enough movies to watch to last all day and even a book. I went back upstairs to my white bedroom with red lining.
I sat in bed and turned on my TV. I watched a movie that Dad always used to watch with me and Bradley. My childhood was perfect. I went to a boarding school throughout grade school.I was the "popular kid" at the boarding school. I always came home to see my mom and dad every winter, spring, and summer break.
I had my mother's hair color and skin tone-pale. My father had blue eyes and so do I. I also had his height and form, which was great because my mom was really small, only around 5'2. Bradley has every gene from my parents that I don't, so no one thinks we're really siblings.
During my 6th grade year school, I got a call from Mom saying she was pregnant. At first, I thought my life was over. Marie would forget about me completely and so would Joseph! I bet even my parents would forget about me.
At the end of eighth year, I decided to quit boarding school because most students did and I wanted to stay with my parents for as long as possible. I enrolled to Red Stone Academy. At the beginning of the year, I tried out for the football team and made varsity. My grades were higher than everyone else's because the boarding school had very high standards, so my freshman year was basically a review.
Because I was gone for a lot of every year, I really got to know my brother during ninth grade. My parents named him Bradley, after my father. Ever since then, my best friend of a butler catered only to Bradley. When our family had parties, everyone completely adored him. I must say, I really hated him. Eventually I ended up learning to love him, but I was still envious.
The last three years of school were possibly the best. I had several hot girlfriends and the parties some of the students had were the best. I graduated with top grades and my life was so content- until about a week or two later. A zombie apocalypse broke out of nowhere. It was about three months before my dad decided to leave us. He didn't even take a car, he just ran out. I wasn't sure if he knew it was suicidal, but he just... left.
My mom ran out after him, begging him to come back. He ignored her and, well, I watched as my parents were eaten outside of my bedroom window. Joseph held me down so I couldn't run after them, so I just sat there in agony.
About a month later, some random person came to my house. Her hair was red, but it seemed natural. She was skinny and tall. Her clothes were ripped and she was dragging someone along who had the same features as her, but the man was large and bulky and had a strange look in his eyes. Was it confused, scared, tired? Either way, I felt sympathetic and decided to let them come inside.
I found out the girl was named Cynthia and the boy was her twin, but he was confused. They got in an accident- though they didn't tell me what, and he forgot everything and though Cynthia remembered most, she forgot several things, like how to write, where she was from, and her brother's name.
Her brother regained some basic memories, and how to do certain things, but neither could remember his name, so we named him C.
I let them inside and told them my name was King, which is my last name. From then on, C called me the King. I let them live her under the condition that they go on missions and collect supplies for me and the rest of the people in the mansion.
One day, earlier this week, Cynthia came into my room and begged me to let two people live here. She said one was a boy around my age, and that he could work with her. The other one was a girl, and that she could become a maid. After some thought, I agreed, but if they screwed up, they were forced away.
When the movie was over, I stripped into my boxers and laid down and dozed off in my bed. I heard my door open and a female voice humming. I slowly opened my eyes and saw the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. She had bright green eyes and gorgeous brown, wavy hair.
"Hello," I said with a smirk.
She jumped, obviously thinking no one else was in here. She dropped the room freshener that she was using to clean the room.
