Chapter Twenty

D i p p e r

Tears streamed down my face.
"Mabel... Pacifica.... Dad." I moaned as I watched them all drown in their own blood.
"You could have saved me child!" Dad gurgled as blood red as roses flowed from his eyes.
"Why would you destroy me!" Mabel yelled out in pain as her skin faded to mere bones.
"Mabel I didn't mean to!" I tried to reason.
"I thought you loved me!" Pacifica screeched crying tears that sent daggers into my heart.
"I do!" I yelled throwing my arms around my chest trying to calm the storm in my heart.
Tears streamed down my face. All the people I loved melting into my deepest nightmares.
Suddenly they disappeared and fathers death was formed in front of my eyes. The same pain that exploded in my chest when I first lost him. The feeling of emptiness.
"Enough!" I screeched and jumped from the vicious nightmare.

I rubbed my stomach as I tried to imagine a child in there. An actual human being! It was crazy!
The leather seats of the old jeep were probably the most comfortable thing I've sat on in a month.
"Enjoying yourself?" Gideon asked playfully as I snuggled deeper into the seats.
"You have no idea." I smirked. He laughed in return. Pacifica got us the best jeep she could find and it was perfect!
"So where are we headed?" Gideon chuckled. Clumsily I unfolded the paper map and pointed to the red line of marker that Pacifica has draw.
"That way." I pointed straight.
"So helpful." He rolled his eyes as he took the map from me and steered us in the right direction.
"Are you going to tell them?" He asked suddenly. My nice mood faded into a more serious one.
"I don't know. I'm hoping that we will have won by the time it starts to show, so maybe I won't have to?" I suggested. Gideon raised an eyebrow in response.
"But they'll think it's yours!" I protested. He blushed a little.
"No they won't they both saw the page remember?" He tried to reason.
"Fine. Stan is still going to kill you though. " I promised as I slumped down.
Dusk turned into night and soon we reached the abandoned building.
"This is the place." Gideon huffed as he got out of the jeep.
"Let's do this."
Hand in hand we walked toward the door. I took a deep breath and swung it open.
"Grunckles!" I cried out in glee.
