Cas' POV
Today was the day I would be going to Dean Winchester's house. These past few days have been the best days of my life. He would drive me home and we would hold hands the entire way there. We would talk all day and when he dropped me off at my house, he would give me a kiss on the forehead, hug me, and tell me how much he cared about me.
The first day he drove me home was a great one, and a bad one. I had gotten punched by Benny, but the way Dean held me afterwards...I didn't care as much anymore. He brushed across the bruise so softly, and I could tell he never wanted to hurt me. Dean was so amazing and I could never express in words how much he means to me.
But today was the big day. I got into Deans car, and slid my hand into his own. He smiled at me and started the car, squeezing my hand for reassurance.
"You ready?" He looked over at me but quickly back onto the road to make sure he didn't hit anything. He lightly brushed his thumb over mine absent-mindedly.
I smiled at him. "Of course. I'm really excited to finally meet Sam. He seems like such a great guy, from what you describe." He smiled once more, and I could see the twinkle in his eyes start to burn a little brighter.
Truth is..I was terrified. Knowing that the first time I ever met his family i could make a good impression or a bad one. It was the start of school all over again. But seeing the look on his face, i was sure this was the right choice.
"He... He is.. Amazing, to say the least. Hes really gonna like you, Cas. I can already tell." He laughed a small laugh. "This is gonna be so great!" I laughed at his cheerfulness.
"I hope so." I squeezed his hand gently and rested my head on his shoulder as we drove off to his house.
In the distance, I could see a cloud of smoke, and i began to grow worried. I looked over to see a face full of pure terror. Only then did I realize that it was probably coming from Dean's house. I could feel the car speed up and I heard the engine roar as we picked up speed.
We got to his house in record time, and by then, I could see the flames licking at the sky, begging to be controlled. I saw a man outside, holding his face in his hands. It looked to be Deans dad, but no younger boy to be found.
Dean and I got out of the car, and Dean ran over to who I assumed was his dad.
I heard bits and pieces of their conversation. " Where-----Sammy?" I heard Dean yell. I saw tears streaming down his face, and then I saw his beautiful green eyes staring back at me. He had a sad look on his face, and I knew.
His brother was still in the house.
Dean took off towards the house that was burning with red, hot flames. I screamed after him, but no one could hear anything over the roar and crackling of the fire.
It was like time had slowed down. I didn't know if Dean would come out of that fire, I didn't know if Sam would come out of that fire. Anything could happen in a matter of seconds, and I was watching it all. I could hear shouting over the flames. Must be Dean shouting for Sam.
It felt like an hour, but In reality, it was about five minutes. I could see Dean running out of the door, carrying someone in his arms. Dean had ashes all over his body, and he was covered in gray. I could tell they were burning him so I ran over, and took Sam from his arms and laid him in the grass. I could hear sirens in the distance and thanked god that someone called the fire department. I rushed over to Dean and shook him. He was closing his eyes and losing consciousness.
"Dean? C'mon, stay with me. Hey, hey, hey. Shh. It's okay." I grabbed his face and made him look at me, hoping that he would focus on my words. He looked at me with those green emerald eyes, and I knew that he wasn't going anywhere. The police, fire department, and an ambulance finally showed up and took Sam and Dean into gurneys.
"Can I ride with them? Please? I need to know that they're safe." I asked a doctor. She looked at me with sorrow.
"You can't ride with them unless you know them somehow. What is your relation to them?" I looked at her, trying to think of an answer. I then looked over at Dean, who still conscious, looked at me.
"He-He's my boyfriend." I looked at him and he smiled behind the oxygen mask they put on him.
She looked at me again, this time reassured. "Alright. Get it. Be careful, though, he has second degree burns on his arms and hands. " I nodded at her and climbed into the back of the ambulance, sitting next to Dean.
"You're gonna be okay, Dean. I'm here." I grabbed Dean's hand that looked to be not as burnt, and I gently caressed his thumb with mine. He looked at me and smiled through his mask, and squeezed my hand.
"Dean. If you..need to sleep, its okay. I'll be here, by your side." I looked into his eyes, and he looked into mine. He slightly nodded, and his eyes began to droop. I leaned down and kissed him on his forehead, showing him that I care about him just as much as he cares about me. He smiled more brightly and finally fell unconscious. The doctors were taking his temperature and listening to his heart rate while I held onto his hand, and we drove off to the hospital, where i would be staying for the next few days.
