The day was uneventful, as always. Dan was looked over by his peers as if he were invisible, he was stepped on and pushed during classes, and he sat unresponsive at the back of the classroom like a pathetic blob.
It was one of those days.
Dan was currently heading to P.E., the worst class he could possibly have. Not only were the teachers shit, the activities stupid, and the entire thing being exercise, but Phil and his buddies were in it, too. And boy, was he gonna get a basketball to the head after pushing Phil this morning.
Dan let out a long sigh through his nose as he approached the boy's locker room, pushing the heavy door open and dropping his bag with all the others, heading into the main part of the locker room.
As he walked through the door, he was greeted with yelling, swearing, and half-naked people running awry.
Dan groaned as he quickly walked over to his locker, punching in the combination and grabbing his clothes, heading to the bathroom stalls so no one would see his body.
He felt his heartbeat increase as he realized he'd have to pass Phil, but he told himself it was nothing and forced himself to keep his head held high as he nonchalantly padded past them. He had almost gotten through the herd of towel whipping and arm punches when he felt something lightly brush his shoulder, cursing under his breath as he realized it was Phil's.
"Hey, fuckwad!" He heard an all too familiar voice call out from behind him, and he let out a long, exasperated sigh as he turned around. There stood Phil, looking into his eyes with an expression of sick amusement and anger. He knew what was about to happen.
Still, he stood his ground, returning Phil's stare harshly. He refused to look away. "What's wrong, baby boy?" Phil taunted, taking a step towards Dan as he smirked down at the shorter boy. "Heading to the stalls again? The hell can't you dress out here like a normal person, you freak?"
Dan stayed put, refusing to let the fear he felt inside show on his face. Instead, he continued to stare Phil in the eyes, his face as deadpanned as he could make it. The more he dragged his silence on, the more impatient Phil became.
"The fuck is wrong you, bitch?!" He yelled, grabbing Dan's wrist and slamming him against the lockers behind them. They stared at each other forever in intense anger and hate, both of them refusing to break eye contact. The silence that draped the atmosphere became more fearful, and as the boys looked around, they noticed the looks of terror upon the faces of their peers'.
"The hell's wrong, Chris? You crazy or some shit?" Phil questioned his friend angrily as he stared at the two boys, looking as if he might faint.
"Y-Y-You..and the geek..you're...you're both..you're both glowing pink."
Everything in the room seemed to slow as the two boys glanced down at their hands. There, between Phil's grip and Dan's wrist, a small pink light was twinkling, gently tinting their skin it's color.
Slowly, they tore their eyes away from the horrific sight in front of them, and look directly into each other's eyes.
"Oh hell no."
