It was extremely cold outside. I was wearing about 5 shirts under my coat. I sipped my vanilla mocha and let it sit for a few seconds. I love the way the steam kissed my pale cheeks. The warmth reminded me of when my friends and I used to play in the playground as children. I sighed and got out of the chair I had just been sitting in. Heated sweet is my favorite coffee shop. As I thought about this some one shook my shoulders. I squeaked and then turned around. It was my boyfriend, Jerry, laughing and smiling.
"Got you good!" he said.
" Yeah, yeah, soo funny." was my response.
" Ooh come on, you gotta admit that was sorta funny."
"Yeah sure."
He hugged me from behind and kissed my cheek.
"So now that I am here, are you ready to go?" he said.
"Yeah, definitely." I said.
Jerry took hold of my hand as we began to walk down the street. Me being careful, I look both ways before crossing. Jerry chuckles and we continue to walk. We make it to the other side of the street and continue walking. Soon after realizing the awkward silence and our loud breathing, Jerry breaks the silence.
" So how's your day been love?" he says with a funny face.
I laugh and respond " Pretty good" and lay my head on his shoulder for a while.
We make it to the park we were going to in the first place and sit on a bench that is a vivid burgundy. I cuddle up next to him for a while and watch the fog of my breathe form into strange white clouds. Almost like a figure. Although it would form random things, I find it normal. I begin to shiver as it suddenly gets colder. I sip my mocha and sigh.
I get up and so does Jerry.
"When's the last time you went on the swings?" I said.
"Ummmm, when I was a little Jerry" he said chuckling.
I laughed a bit loudly because of the cartoon accent he did with it.
I sighed loudly and said "You're such a silly goose!" and hugged him around the neck. I gave him a quick kiss 3 times and giggled each time. We finally got up and walked for a while. The sky became a orange so pretty it reminded me of orange cream soda. The clouds moved slowly over the sun and got darker. It was now freezing and we went inside a fast-food restaurant to heat up. I had become hungry and bought some food to keep our stomachs full. Jerry held my hand tightly and I felt light-headed. I went blank for a while and got up. I could barely make out the sound of what is possibly pots and spoons clashing together.
"You okay Elizabeth?" Jerry said.
All I could hear was the muffled sound of his voice. He started to shake me and began to panic, calling out for help.
I fell over and collapsed. For what felt like 20 seconds I woke up in my bed. I smiled softly and cuddled in my blanket. It was so warm and soft. Jerry sat at the end of the bed on his phone.
"Jerry?" I whispered.
He turned around and smiled.
"I'll call you back. Love you mom." He hung up.
"You're awake. How do you feel?"
"A little numb in my side."
"You'll probably feel better in a few days" he said softly. "You should get some rest, it's 3 in the morning."
"Has it been that long?" I whispered.
"Yeah, you just blacked out back at the restaurant."
I was somewhere between confused and shaking. It had suddenly gone cold. I was exhausted and had no more energy to speak, so I closed my eyes and drifted sound asleep as I fell into the abyss of darkness.
