Book: Basic Instinct
Chapter 9: The Pack
Word Count: 5073Alec stood in front of the wolf den, resting his arms against the metal, safety bars and leaning forward. A big, brown wolf had been staring back at him. It's almost black eyes never straying from his once. When he first went to the den the wolf had started growling, his nose pointed towards Alec obviously feeling threatened by the teenagers presence but Alec had simple squared his shoulders and let out a low warning growl, almost impossible to hear. The wolf immediately put his head down and backed up, finding Alec superior. After that the air was filled with silence. He wasn't interested in touring the zoo with the rest of his class.
He'd split from Buffy, Willow and Xander a while ago. All of them finding something interesting they wanted to look at. He was glad to have some time to himself with the wolf in front of him. It made his insides feel somewhat content and he knew it was the wolf inside him. He had always tried to push that side of himself down unless it was really needed but right now he let his senses run a little more wild. He looked behind himself when he heard extra footsteps enter the room. He wasn't alone anymore. He saw four people and they were four people he really didn't like.
"Oh, look it's Alec and all—" The boy, Kyle who Alec had become to hold a big disliking towards, looked around the room with mock confusion. "Well, wait where's all your friends? That's right. You don't have any."
The comment didn't phase Alec in the slightest. He even let out a chuckle at the weak insult. "Oh, look it's Kyle and his posse of badasses. Watch me shiver." He wasn't going to waste his time throwing insults at this group of so called badasses. He had way better things to do with his time and he wasn't about to get suspended again for another fight. He went to walk around them.
"You should be careful with what you say to me." Kyle sneered, looking as if he was about to grab Alec's arm but thought better of it and let his arm rest at his side which Alec thought was a good idea.
The young werewolf smirked, stopping at the exit and twisting his head to look at Kyle. "Maybe you should worry more about keeping your girlfriend happy then spending all of your time trying to think of new insults." He looked at Rhonda and winked. "I had a great time by the way." It was about a month ago that they had spent the night together. He saw Kyle turn to Rhonda angrily but the short haired brunette only smirked. Alec laughed and walked out. They wouldn't break up. Kyle knew that Rhonda wasn't faithful. What really got under his skin was that it was Alec she had sex with. He walked down the pathway towards the elephant cage. He turned his head, to find Buffy walking up the path alone, reading a pamphlet. He smiled, always seeming to do that when he was around her. "Hey, Buff." He greeted.
"Oh, hey!" She smiled, turning her gaze to him and looking all that more brighter. "Where'd you go?"
"Wolves." He answered, shrugging his shoulders carelessly and looking to the side, avoiding her eyes.
