We never looked back, and that was the best part of it all. I had never thought I would find myself in these situations, but I never regret them.
I never regret the smell of smoke that saturates my hair and clothing, or the reoccurring detentions.
I've come to love the burning sensation that comes with this freedom.
I am on fire.
But I never get burned.
