-Ash's POV-

"Excuse me sir?"

Someone slightly shook me by my shoulder.

"You're friend finally woke up," a nurse informed me.

I sprang up from my seat. I had fallen asleep again in one of the chairs in the waiting room. I was still sort of weak and trying to recover from donating so much blood. It's ok though. I would do anything for Xena.

It has been 3 days since the incident at school and she hadn't woken up until now. I thought I lost her..

I have been coming to the hospital every day since then and I haven't eaten really anything. School didn't matter enough to keep me from being as close as I could to Xena, so I just didn't go.

I was so glad that my grandparents supported me not going. At first they were against me. But after explaining how I felt about her to them, they both have me sympathetic smiles and agreed to let the school know I wouldn't be going for an emergency reason. God, I love my grandparents.

"Can I go see her right now?" I asked the nurse.

"If it is alright with you, I'd like to ask you something before you go see her."

I nodded for her to go on.

"It's been this long and her mother hasn't shown up. We have tried getting in contact with her, but she never answered. Do have any idea where she is or why she hasn't been here? I would assume after being this long without your own daughter you would go and search for her."

I had been so worried about Xena's health that I forgot about her mom. It's true. She hasn't showed up. What a great mother. I'll have to go look for her at her house as soon as I get the chance to. This is NOT going to fly by me.

"I'm not sure. I haven't seen her around either. I'll go by her house later to check and see if she's there and if she is, I'll talk to her," I responded.

She nodded and said, "That's a good idea. I just can't imagine a mother doing that to her own daughter. It's so sad and insane at the same time. I hope nothing has happened to her. Maybe that's why she hasn't come. Do you think something happened to her mother? Maybe she just lost her phone or something. It could be the reason she hasn't been answering. Or maybe she got a new phone."

Well that's a thought.

"Possibly. If something happened to her I'll be sure to inform you. I'll stop by there later today if you would like."

"Yes. If you can, please do that today. It will hopefully help us out with getting in contact with her."

"Ok so can you take me to see my friend now?," I asked.

"Oh! Yes. I'm sorry. Right this way." She gestured to the right.

I followed her through various hallways until we got to Xena's room. I walked in and saw her head slowly tilting to the side with her eyes closed.

I gave the nurse a questioning look.

"Oh. She must've just fallen back asleep. We did take a while talking and coming down here. If you would like, you can stay here until she wakes up again," the nurse explained.

I nodded and got a chair to sit in next to her bed. I didn't want to wake her back up right after she fell asleep again. She needed all the rest she could get.

"I'll be back in while to check on you two," the nurse whispered. "If you need anything, push that red button on the remote. It's next to her arm," she pointed.

I looked over at Xena and sure enough, there was a remote with a red button at the top next to her arm. I faced the nurse again and gave her a thumbs up before she left the room.

I could barely convince myself to look at Xena's face. I know the nurse said she woke up, but with her eyes closed, shielding those beautiful eyes, and her flawless skin now so pale... She just looked so peaceful. Like there was nothing else that could hurt her anymore... No. I don't even want to think about it.

I got the burning sensation in my eyes again while I looked her over. I really could have saved her. It was so stupid of me to think that she's completely safe in a school full of douchefaced basterds. If only I would've walked with her, she wouldn't be here right now.

But from now on, that will be different. I'll walk her to class everyday and fight for her if I need to. I CAN'T and will NOT let this happen EVER again. Not while I'm alive and she's alive. Even if I die before her, I'll make sure that I find someone I trust and hold dearly to me to take great care of her for me. As I said before, I'm NOT letting this happen EVER again.

X) love ya for reading!😘
