-Ash's POV-
I heard a click and then something cold touch my forehead. Fluttering my tired eyes open, I was staring straight at a gun pointed at me. I jumped at the sight and tried to back away although the chair was already close to the wall.
I looked up at the person holding the weapon. It was a big tall white man with black hair and dark eyes who looked to be in his late 20s.
I turned to the bed next to me. Xena was no longer in it. She was now struggling to get out of another man's arms in the corner of the room. He had similar features like the other guy, but had light brown hair, a bit shorter, and looked a bit younger than the man in front of me. He had a hand over her mouth to muffle her screaming.
I tried to get up.
"You move, you die," the guy holding the gun told me in a deep voice said.
I turned back to Xena who had stopped squirming and was now silently dangling from the man's arms. She had already been weak and was barely recovering from the school incident. Having to put that much effort into trying to escape made her faint.
"No!" I tried to get up again as tears blurred my vision, only to have the man stop me again.
"Remember what I told you. Now you must be her girlfriend," he said with a grin spreading across his ugly ass face. "Ashley, right?"
I clenched my fists with the urge to punch him. I reminded myself that he had a gun pointed at me and held my place. Not even here can I get away from those comments about my appearance.
"I'm not a girl," I said through clenched teeth. "But yes, I'm Ashley. Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"Oh, so you're just an emo faggot friend of hers? Ok," he said, not giving me any chance to react. "We're just friends of Xena here's mom. See, she kind of refused to pay us back so," he shrugged," we came and got out fair share. But it's even better, we got two for the price of one," he said.
As much as I wanted to strike him, the mention of her mom stopped me. What had she done?
"What do you mean? What did she do? Where is she?"
I had so many thoughts going through my head, I couldn't process anything at the time.
"Well, we loaned her mommy a few thousand dollars for some 'candy' to have a good time with. We gave her 2 weeks, which in my opinion, is VERY generous. It's almost been a month now. We have been way too patient. We took care of her though. My guys paid a little visit a few days ago and gave her what she deserved. Haven't heard from or seen her since then."
Was that why she hasn't come to see Xena?
"How long ago was this little visit?"
"About 3-4 days ago. But that doesn't matter. See, what you're going to do, is open that window over there and help us get out of here undetected. If you try anything funny, well, you'll suffer the consequences."
I glared at him while I took in what he said and slowly got up and walked over to the window. I had a plan brewing in my mind.
I put the curtain folds up and took my time looking for the way to open it. When I found the hatches, I pretended to have more than usual trouble trying to switch them to the other side. It was already difficult, so that helped my acting a little.
"Hurry up, we don't have all day," the shorter guy said.
"You worthless piece of shit. Move."
The man that had been holding the gun up to me had suddenly come up behind me and pushed me aggressively towards the bed. Exactly what I was hoping for.
I "shuffled" towards the bed, quickly looking for the location of the control, as if he had pushed me way harder than he actually did. I landed with my stomach hitting the edge of the bed while my hands were out in front of me. I managed to find it by the time I got there and pressed the red button without them seeing before falling to the floor from the impact.
I held on to my stomach as the pain surged through me. Maybe I had outdone my little crash course a bit. I had to deal with it though. Now to delay them long enough for the nurse to get here.
He had barely moved the first hatch but turned around to face me.
"You're such a little bitch. I knew you were weak, but I didn't imagine it would be that bad. I mean, look at you. How pathetic. I barely nudge you and you go flying across the room."
Good. He didn't notice what I had done. I pretended to be in excruciating pain (although it truly did hurt) as I tried to get up and let myself fall again, still holding on to my stomach.
"Maybe you haven't noticed, but you have more muscle and weight than I do. That gives you a big advantage against many people my size. It's probably why I seem so weak to you," I retorted.
"You don't seem to be weak. You are weak, kid," he responded.
"Not the way I see it," I muttered.
"What?"
"Nothing. And you," I said turning to the other guy, "why are you holding her so tightly? You know she fainted right? There's no fucking reason for you to hold her like that. She has no way of running out of here with her injury still holding her strength and energy back."
"I don't give a shit. I'll hold her however I feel like holding her. You know you could be dead right now but we chose not to kill you. Yet. Don't fucking tell me how to do shit or you'll get to meet death very soon."
I scolded him and rolled my eyes as I attempted to get up again. I held on to the bed for support as I rise from the ground slowly.
I started to hear very faint foot steps. I had to cover the sound up before these two shitheads heard them.
"Fuck!," I half yell as I pretend to have pain shoot through my stomach suddenly.
The first man had already turned back to the window but quickly swiveled back to me and in the process, taking his gun out again just to point it at my face as if it were a weapon magnet now.
"Keep. Your little. Fucking. Mouth. Shut," he said as he seemed to pierce right through my eyes.
"Oh please. You wouldn't be able to hold in all of the screeches I have. That little outburst was nothing. Do you even know how much pain I'm in right now? I'm assuming not. So if you please, take that thing out of my sight."
"I think it's time for you to say goodbye to the world. It would nice to have silence once mo-"
"Did you need anythi-"
The nurse had cut him off but stopped dead in her tracks as well. I shut my eyes as tight as I could. After that, everything was a blur in my mind. I remember a feminine scream being heard. Then the sound of a gun shot rang through the room and a body hit the ground. Not even a second later, another gun shot was made with the following thud. I remained motionless.
