she slipped downstairs and
opened the door.
he ignored the rain.
it was just like that night... she couldn't breathe.
he slipped the letter in her hands.
neither of them said anything.
"i love you," he whispered.

"i'll see you soon," he murmured,
though he only knew that would
happen if the cards were in his favor.
"yeah," she forced a smile.
he stepped off of the front
porch, the rain drenching his body.
"read the letter as soon as you can."
she closed the door.
and he disappeared.
