“HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO AMITA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU,” my best friend, boyfriend, and family members sang the last verse of the song. I was just standing there holding my own hands together to my chest. It was so awkward, but I smiled anyway.  The people around my clapped and screamed: “Make a wish, blow the candle.” I wasn’t sure what to wish for, I mean I had everything I need right here. I tucked my hair behind my ears.  I closed my eyes; thought of something to wish for, then the words came out “I wish to have a good first year of college.” I reopened my eyes once again and blew out the candles. The applause from the people that love once again clapped for me. I smiled to the people around me; nothing could top this evening ever.

“Happy Birthday sweetie, hope your wish comes true.” Granted my mom. “Thanks mom, I’m really going to miss you once I go off to college.” “Awh, we feel the same way, we’re going to miss our little girl, that’s all grown up.” “Aw,” I walked quickly to my parents to give them a hug.” “We’re just so proud of you that you saved up enough money to go to college and be off on your own.” My mom said as her voice shooked.  “I couldn’t have done it without you guys and everyone’s support.”  I said as looking around the room. “That makes one less of us.” My older brother Damon teased. “Come on Damon you know you’re going to miss me, I mean who else would tease you as much as I do.” I said. “I mean, since we’re admitting things, I’m going to miss you champ.” He said sweetly. I walked up to him and gave him a brotherly and sisterly hug.  He messed up my hair and said, “Well now that’s over, let’s get to the cake.” He shooked my head cause he would say that. “Well, me and your father got to run, the Johnson’s are expecting us in 15 minutes.” She said as she lifted her watch.  “Enjoy and call me when you get to campus tomorrow morning.” “Alright, mom and dad, have a safe ride, I’ll see you as soon as possible.” I smiled. “But, before we leave we have birthday present for you.” My mom smiled and jumped a little. She told me to put on a blindfold. I was kind of excited of what my parents got me for my birthday. David, my boyfriend lead my out the front door outside, guiding me every step of the way. His hands on my back made me felt butterflies in my stomach. “Okay you can take them off now.” My mom commanded. I took off my blindfold carefully and the sun that was directly at my eyes were blinding me. Once I squeezed my eyes a little and wait for them to adjust correctly, I couldn’t believe my eyes.  Right in front of me was the car I’ve always wanted since I got my driver’s license.  The 2014 Jeep Wrangler with the hard roof, this car was expensive but I saved my money for college instead. The dark black of the car made it look so shiny that it shined in my eyes. “Oh my god Thank you THANK YOU SOO MUCH.” I said as I covered my mouth and was surprised so much that I was speechless. I ran up to the car and touched it, it was so smooth.  “Heads up.” My dad threw me the keys to the car. I luckily catch the keys.  I looked at how the keys look so new. Then something exciting came to my mind. I looked up at my boyfriend David, my brother, Damon and my best friend, Dianne. “Test-Run?” They smiled to me back and said. “Test Run,” at the same time. I opened the car and got in. The other people followed. As we were taking the first step in the car, my mom said, “Be careful, remember to call.” “Alright mom, thank you again.” I responded.  I backed up the car from the drive way to the open road. After getting out of our neighborhood I asked, “So where are we heading..?” “Somewhere where we both went on our first date...” said David as he smiles and looks at me with his precious blue eyes, and smiled with his perfect pearl white teeth. I smiled at him back but still kept my attention to the road so I don’t crash. As my hands were resting on the shift gear David grabbed my hands and kissed of my hands. I smiled at him and shook my head. He rubbed my hand with his fingers that felt nice. “I think I’m about to puke.” Teased Damon. “Don’t be sassy when you don’t have a girlfriend.” I teased back. I looked at the rear view mirror and saw Dianne on her phone. She’s probably talking to her friend, on the internet that she has never met yet. “I guess we’re heading to the beach.” I said sounding excited. I turned on the radio bit, letting go of David’s hand, but held it again after tuning the radio. I thought I was kind of dangerous to drive with only one hand, but I would do anything to be with David every second that I can. However, even though he’s going to the same colleges as I am, I still want to spend most of my time with him. After 20 minutes of driving, I smelled the smell of salt and seaweed. I’m pretty sure that everyone smelled it too. We are getting closer and closer to ocean; it was around 4:30 so the sun was not going to set in an hour. I found the perfect parking spot to park, which was near the pier. I thought of taking a walk on the beach first because the pier looks a whole lot better when the lights turn on. We all decided to separate so me and David could spend a little bit more alone time with each other. Dianne decided to go with Damon to go get some food, because they were hungry since they didn’t have any cake from the party. I wasn’t even dressed properly for an evening at the beach.  I was wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt along with some worn out high-top converse.
