The wind blew calmly, barely shifting the branches on the trees. No trace of the snow was left, almost as if the blizzard had never happened. Tsuki constantly looked at her surroundings, unable to be comfortable. She blindly followed InuYasha, clutching onto her cloak. She had pulled the hood back onto her head, her inhuman ears covered.
Her cloak flowed behind her like a calm flowing river. She lowered her head, the hood forming a shadow that covered her eyes. Within a small clearing, flowers covering the entire field, a giant tree towering in the center, a group of people stood. They seemed to be searching for something or someone. Tsuki quickly recognized the people, remembering earlier. Tears formed in her eyes, threatening to fall. A raven-haired woman looked Tsuki's way, gasping.
"There he is!" she shouted. She ran in her and InuYasha's direction. Tsuki stood still, trying not to be noticed. The woman stopped as soon as she reached InuYasha, glancing in Tsuki's direction.
"Who is that?" The woman curiously asked, tilting her head slightly. InuYasha looked in Tsuki's direction, realizing she wasn't going to speak up.
"Her name's Tsuki," he spoke up for her. Kagome knew she recognized her, but she couldn't tell where and when she saw Tsuki. Then, her expression softened, her face brightening.
"I remember now! You're the... person who... attacked InuYasha..." she trailed off. Her expression hardened, showing slight anger.
"Why is she following you?" She asked. She didn't know why he would suddenly bring back the same demon who attacked him. She didn't understand. She couldn't understand.
"She's gonna start travelin' with us," InuYasha simply replied, resting his hand on the handle of his Tetsusaiga. The woman started walking towards Tsuki, in a calm manner. She stopped shortly, raising her hand slightly as if she were waving. She tilted her head slightly, smiling kindly.
"Hi, I'm Kagome. It's nice to meet you," Kagome introduced, trying to remain her kind personality. Tsuki remained silent, looking away. Kagome's expression quickly changed to confusion.
"Ugh... we should probably introduce Tsuki to the rest of them," Kagome broke the awkward and murderous silence. Kagome started off in the direction of her other friends, urging Tsuki to follow. InuYasha began following, stopping shortly. He turned around, noticing Tsuki standing still.
"Why are you being nice to me?" Tsuki questioned, barely above a whisper. InuYasha's face softened. He took a step closer towards Tsuki, barely any gap between them. Tsuki took a step back, feeling awkward.
"It's because... I know what it feels like... to lose someone you love," he barely whispered. No human could hear what he had said, but she wasn't human. Not completely human. And she heard perfectly what he said. InuYasha walked off, expecting her to follow. Tsuki's eyes widened. She stood, the calm wind shifting her hood ever so slightly. She snapped back to reality and began walking towards the group of people. She clutched onto her cloak, holding it close.
She walked closer to them, acting confident. She didn't want them to see her as weak. She watched carefully as they crowded around her, kind smiles plastered on their faces. They all greeted her, closing what space was left between them. She could feel herself breathing harder than she was. She new she had never felt like this before, but why now? What was making her act like this?
Her heart pace quickened, sweat slowly drifting down her face. She felt like she couldn't breathe. The people grew darker, becoming only silhouettes of themselves. Mocking laughter erupted from them. The laughs were so close, yet they seemed so far away. They echoed in her head, pounding through her memories, reminding her that she is only nothing. Nothing but a stupid and disgusting creature.
She fell to her knees, tears escaping from her eyes. She held her face in her hands, unable to force herself to look, for she didn't want to see the taunting faces. She didn't want to hear the mocking laughter. She didn't want any part of it.
Still, the voices echoed in her head. The taunting, the pointing, the laughing, the abuse. It all was happening again. She didn't want to live through it again. She couldn't. Not now. Not when she wasn't here. She couldn't bear it. She can't. She won't. She was her everything. She was the only thing she lived for. And now she was gone. And Tsuki was alone.
Tsuki felt a hand on her shoulder, feeling something shoot through her body. It comforted her. Made her feel safe. But at the same time, it made her feel alone. She looked up, inhuman orbs gazing, expecting to be beaten, except she only saw normal faces. Normal faces with concerned and kind expressions plastered all over. She stared at the familiarizing faces that stared back at her with expressions she hadn't seen on anyone else. Anyone, but her. She was the only one who cared about her. Who cared when other people hated. Who cared when people abused. She was the only one who cared. But now she was gone.
The silhouettes slowly transformed back into people. Normal people who had faces. She gazed at InuYasha. Gazing at his features. She noticed small, almost puppy-sized dog ears perched on top of his head, standing ready to listen. Ready to listen to anything. Everything. His long, flowing white hair lay behind him, except two fat locks of hair, which lay loosely on his chest. She noticed the strange necklace that lay securely, looking as if it refused to be removed. She studied its features, intrigued. A tooth bead every four purple beads. She wondered what it was for.
She gazed at his eyes. His golden eyes seemed to pierce into her very being. The emotion his eyes carried made her feel warm. They made her feel cared about. Loved. The same emotion her eyes carried. Again, she felt alone. And she was. Not in reality, though. She was alone. The last of her family. She was the last. The only one. And she didn't like it. She hated that feeling of being alone, but she was used to it.
She gazed at his clawed hands, watching as they clenched and unclenched repeatedly. She sensed something was wrong, but she couldn't tell exactly. Was he anticipating something? She gazed at his haori, engulfed in the fiery red. She stared at it, watching as a string (slung across his shoulder) shifted slightly with the wind. His haori dizzied her. The fiery fabric swirling and swirling until she felt her head spin. She felt her head swirl. She felt it crumble into nothing. She felt like she would pass out. And she did.
