The sound of my phone blaring the all too familiar alarm awoke me from my sleep. I groan loudly, reaching my hand out from under the duvet in search for my phone. After a few long moments I force myself awake and trudge my towards the bathroom to begin my morning routine.Twenty minutes later I came out from my bathroom, freshly showered wearing a pair of white short shorts and a tank top. A towel was wrapped around my head to allow my hair to dry naturally. Walking to the small desk with my makeup bag I sit down and begin taking out my foundation and concealer. Just as I'm about to grab my eyeliner I look in the rather large mirror and squint my eyes, watching something move. It was through my window, into the window next door.
The sight of Justin, the guy whom I had come to meet last night was walking around the room in nothing but a pair of sweats and a towel draped on his neck. I continued to stare at him through my mirror, not even fully realizing how absolutely creepy that made me for doing so. He moves out of sight and if on queue, I jump from my seat and make my way towards the window. I continue to watch intently as he went about his business, having no clue a complete and utter stranger was watching him from afar. He looked flustered, almost angry as he stuffed various clothes into his dresser. He stopped abruptly, and without warning he turns around and looks at me dead in the eyes.
Shit shit shit shit shit
I quickly move to my right, my back against the white wall that fell just a few inches from where my window was. I can feel my heart beat increase as I squeeze my eyes shut feeling completely embarrassed that I was caught starring at my half naked neighbor. I let out a shaky breath and I count to three before peeking my head ever so slightly to see if Justin was still looking in the window.
He wasn't.
In fact, he wasn't in the room at all. I let out a silent prayer thanking God before slipping on a pair of white sandals as I tied my hair up into a ponytail, making my way down the wooded stairs and into the kitchen.
"Morning." I say, kissing my aunt on the cheek before sitting down at the counter watching her put the last of the dishes into the dishwasher. I still felt my heart beat thud as I remember what had just occurred mere minutes ago.
"Someone's awfully cheery for it being eight thirty in the morning." Aunt Hellen comments, raising her eyebrow as she continues to cut up various fruits, placing them into a bowl. "Any reason for that?"
I shrug my shoulders, reaching into the bowl and popping a strawberry in my mouth. "Have anything planned for today?" I ask, simply ignoring her earlier question.
"We have the block party tonight, so I was making a fruit bowl to bring over." She says, swatting my hand away playfully as I grab onto another piece of fruit. I smile and raise my hands up in surrender.
"That's tonight?" I give her a confused look, cocking my head to the side.
"I told you this at least a dozen times this week alone, how could you forget already?"
"Must have slipped my mind." I mumble.
"Well, it is. I think it'll be a great opportunity to meet some of the towns people anyways. They're excited to meet you, I know that at least."
"You keep saying that."
"Saying what?" She stops cutting the fruit and looks at me.
"How everyone can't wait to meet me. Do you talk to them about me?" I ask, feeling slightly uneasy knowing that I was being talked about by my aunt to the people who live here, especially because I knew most of the people in this town seemed to creep me out in the worst of ways.
