9 months passed since the wedding. Mom was pregnant with twins, and she was currently 8 months pregnant. Dad was in Wyoming, Brian was out of town with his girlfriend, and my younger siblings were with Dad so it was just me and mom.
That night, I heard screams coming from her bedroom. I walked up there, and it sounded like she was crying. She yelled my name, and I ran up there.
"Mom, what is it," I yelled from the hall. I opened the door, and blood was running from her legs. Oh shit, I thought. Why now when dad was gone?
"Mom, where's your phone," I asked/panicked.
"It won't matter. Call them and tell them what's going on, and then call your dad," she yelled.
"911 what is your emergency?"
"Yes, my name is Kaci Calaway, and my mom is in labor. She's only eight months pregnant. We need an ambulance!"
"Okay miss stay calm. There's an ambulance on their way right now. Can we talk to your mother?"
"Hello," my mom asked crying.
"Ma'am how many kids are you pregnant with?"
"Twins, boy and girl."
"Is there anyone I should call?"
"My son, Brian. His number is 878-569-3290 (not real)!"
"Okay ma'am the ambulance should be there by now. I'm gonna contact your son for you and-"
"No never mind. My daughter will contact everyone who needs to know, thank you anyway," mom cried before the EMTs put her in the ambulance.
We made it to the hospital, and they took her to the delivery room. Since I was under 18, I had to wait outside.
My brother came with his girlfriend, and they had tears in their eyes.
"Does dad know," Brian asked me.
"No, but I was about to call him," I replied. When I got my phone out, the doctor came.
"Well, there's good news and bad news," he said.
"Good news first, doctor," I replied.
"The little girl is strong and healthy. As for the boy and your mother, they didn't make it. Your welcome to see them one last time," he said.
I burst out crying as did Harley. Brian went in there and shouted "No!" He came out crying, and he hugged both of us. My phone went off, and it was dad.
"Answer it," Brian said. I did as he said.
"Hey, daddy," I said in a sad voice.
"Hey, I'm home. Where are you and your mother at?"
"We're at the hospital. She went into labor earlier, and...
"What part of the hospital?"
The delivery section, but daddy you won't like what you see."
"Why, what happened?"
"I can't tell you. Come look for yourself," I cried. He hung up, and I turned my phone off crying.
"He's coming, doctor. The father of the babies is coming," I said.
I went to the lobby, and soon saw my dad. I ran to him, and bursted out crying.
"Baby, what happened," he asked concerned.
"The baby boy didn't make it, daddy. He didn't make it," I sobbed. He sighed. I cried even more just thinking about his reaction when he sees mom. He was gonna shut down.
"I'm so sorry baby, let's go back up there to see your mother," he said. I immediately fell to my knees and screamed in sadness.
"Baby," he yelled. He came to my side, and scooted me into a hug. We got up, and went to the elevator.
"Dad, can you hold my hand," I asked. He grabbed it, and he rubbed his thumb over my hand. "Dad, I know this gonna be a lot to take in, but don't do anything crazy," I said. He looked at me and nodded. The elevator stopped at our floor, and I saw my brother on the floor, sitting down.
"Dad's here, Brian," I said. He got up, and dad hugged him.
"Dad, before you go in there.... there's something you need to know," Brian said.
I looked away, starting to cry again. Dad and Brian looked at me, and Brian nodded. Dad needed to know.
"Dad.....," I trailed off. I couldn't tell him. I just couldn't.
"What Kaci's trying to say is..... Mom is dead," Brian said weakly. The look on dad's face was one of sadness and disbelief. I'll never forget it.
He barged in the room, and me and Brian decided to let him have some privacy. He shouted no, and many cuss words. He opened the door, us seeing his tear streaked face with red eyes.
He motioned for us, and he put his arms around us. We hugged for what seemed like years, and I didn't care because my mom was gone and so was my future baby brother. All I had now was the remaining members of my family, and my baby sister.
