Chapter Six:
Jason’s Pov:
I stare up at the ceiling; the plain white roof of my bedroom and the only thing on my mind is her! Why couldn't it be anything but her? I mean she doesn't love me back and I know that from the reaction the day I kissed her the day she … aghrr I cant think about that day every time I do I just want to be able to stop what happened to her from happening but it all just happened so fast I can never think of something to do quick enough.
I roll onto my side and open up my bedside table draw and pull out the two pieces of photo paper one with a piece of her and the other with whom I suppose is Luke. I place the pictures together where the tears line up and together they look so happy. I couldn't never get in between the love she has for him, she may never stop loving him.
I think about giving this back to her but some part of me wishes she wouldn’t remember him and that maybe also if I give it back to he she will hate me for having it and keeping it for all this time. My plan is still so undecided. I place them back into the draw and close it shut.
I get up and walk out into the hall, I walk past my mothers room and then the door that's shut the one that has been shut for so long the room that belong well belongs to my little sister. I haven’t been in there for god knows how long and I don't plan in changing that so soon, I walk straight past the room and downstairs to make breakfast. When I get down there my mum and dad are already sitting at the table eating an drinking their coffee and for some reason something doesn't seem right.
‘Morning mum, morning dad’
Only my father replies which felt odd considering my mother alwas greeted me good morning.
‘Morning son’
‘Is everything ok?’
They both look at each other and just by that one action I know something is up, something is very wrong.
‘Well since you mentioned it son would you have a seat please we need to tell you something’
I take my seat but they don't talk, I sit their playing with my hands when my mother decides to break the soon to be awkward silence.
‘ uhh Jason this is hard for us to tell you this but we have known for quite some time and we think this is now the right time to tell you before its too late’
‘Mum what are you talking about’
They look at each other again and I just want to yell at them to hurry up and just tell me, that the anticipation is killing me.
‘Sweetie I’m pregnant’
Just like that the world around me shifts, my mother who lost a child is pregnant again, like she could replace my sister. I start to get angry. How could she do this?
‘How could you do this? You think that just after a couple of years that it we don't have to miss her we don't have to care you CAN JUST REPLACE HER?’
With that I’m getting my keys of the bench and I’m out the front door and almost at my car. I hear my mother calling me and I know she’s starting to follow me and just as she makes it to the front door and is out I shut the door of my car and start it up and speed away down the street. At this point I don't know where I’m going I’m just driving around aimlessly but before I know it I’m at the cemetery. I came to see her. I walk down the pebble path towards her grave I sit down and I start to cry.
‘Hey Lilly, I know I haven’t been in a while its just really hard coming here. I still think of you as a little girl playing out side or drawing me little pictures. So I guess wherever you are you know about mum and dad but don't worry I still love and think of you every day you don't need them, and I wont ever love that baby as much as I love you ok’
I look at the picture of her on the grave, her face is so small, I just want to hold her. Keep her safe but I failed that promise to her the day she went missing. The day she died.
