Rowan woke up in his dormitory room to the sound of his alarm going off, still groggy and a bit ir rated at the sound. He sat on his bed and turned off the alarm.
"03-02-2038" Read the small calendar.
His roommate, Dan, was sitting at his holodesk, finishing what looked liked a small stack of paperwork from the night before.
'Can't believe that today's the big day!' Rowan thought.
Today was the day that Rowan was taking his last test before finally becoming a starship captain. At the young age of nineteen, he'd hoped with all his heart hat he'd pass and be the youngest human alive to ever become an official starship captain.
He heard Dan's distinctive voice and faced him with full attention.
"Morning, Sterling! I thought you wouldn't get up in time."
"Wouldn't dream of it!"
"Haha, that's so like you to be determined and ready, even this early! Oh by the way, good luck for today! I'm sure you're going to be just great!"
"Thanks, Dan!"
With hearing encouraging words from his best friend, Rowan took a quick shower and put on his uniform before heading out. As the door slides open, he caught sight of the beautiful weather.
'This is a good sign, right?'
