Chapter Eight

Jeff's P.O.V.

When I wake up, I hear voices. One is definitely BEN and the other is...unfamiliar. Sinse I have no eyelids, there's no need for me to open my eyes. But I have a cloth draped over my eyes. I slowly sit up, and pull it off. As my eyes adjust to my surroundings, I notice I'm not dead.

"Why am I still alive?" I mumble to myself, not expecting an answer. I hear a gasp, and suddenly BEN tackles me in a bear hug.

"What are you doing?" I ask. I don't get an answer. He just starts crying. Not knowing what else to do, I gently place my hand on his back. He lets me go and looks directly into my unblinking eyes.

"You idiot! I thought you died!" He yells. I smile and tilt my head to the side.

"Awe. You do care!" I say. I hear someone clear their throat from behind me. I turn around and freeze. Behind me, is...Liu.

"L-Liu?" I say while stuttering. He gently smiles at me.

"Hey Jeff. It's been a while."

I turn to BEN and look at him with eyes that threaten to spill tears. I get off the bed I'm lying in, grab my hoody, and run out. I see a park up ahead. It's like, 4:30am so I don't bother putting on that stupid charm necklace. I sit on a bench, and start crying.

I can't believe he's alive. I know why he's here. He wants to kill me because I killed his family, then tried to kill him. This is just what I need. Another Jane. I sigh, finally able to turn my sobs into a silent cry. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I feel a hand on my shoulder. I look over and see the one person I didn't want to see.

"Liu..." He smiles, and sits next to me.

"Just do it quick." I say. He looks at me and raises an eyebrow.

"What do you mean?" He asks.

"Just kill me quick. That's why your here, right?" He suddenly punches me in the face. Hm, this feels familiar. He looks hurt.

"Jeff, I came to tell you that it's ok. I'm not mad. Please, live your life and don't worry about what I may think. I'm your brother. I love you. " he says.

I don't say anything. I just grab him and cry into his chest. I know it's pathetic, but I'm so full of emotions right now. He hugs me back, and we just sit like that for what seems like hours. I stop crying eventually and we just sit watching the sun come up. Suddenly, he breaks the silence.

"So, who's the ghost? Don't tell me you got a boyfriend before me!" He exclaims. I laugh.

"No no. That's BEN. He's my best friend. We have been going through some stuff, but I think I'm ready to talk to him, face to face. And as much as I hate to admit it, he's a really good fighter. Not as good as me if course." I hear Liu laugh and suddenly my heart hurts. It's just like old times. Before the...incident. Suddenly, he gets up and starts walking away. He's not staying?

"Liu? Where are you going?" I ask. He turns around, and smiles, but his eyes are full of sadness.

"I can't stay, Jeff. My boss needs me. I just wanted you to know that I don't hate you." I can literally hear my heart shattering in my chest.

"W-what? Can't y-you just tell y-your boss n-no?" I'm crying again. Great. I must look so...beneath him...right now.

"Sorry Jeff, but Zalgo's pretty strict with this kind of thing."

"Wait. Zalgo...is...your...boss?" I ask slowly, begging for the answer to be no.

"Unfortunately, yes. Now. Goodbye Jeff. I probably won't see you again. " then he turns around and starts to leave. No. I won't loose him again. I grab onto his wrist and prevent him from leaving.

"Jeff. Let go." Liu says without looking at me. I shake my head.

"No way. I'm not loosing you again!" I yell.

"You don't understand, Jeff. If he sees us together then-"

"Well well well, look at what we have here.." Says a menacing voice.

     I turn around to where the voice is coming from, but see no one. I turn back to Liu, but he's gone.

"Liu!?" I yell. No. He can't be gone again.

"I didn't know you had a brother, maybe I'll play with him." Suddenly, I see him. Red, black, tall, and insane. Zalgo.

"What do you want?" I ask.

"Not much. I actually need your help. I have a new invention, and I'm going to try it out on you! All I have to to is inject this-" he holds up a vial. "Into you, and I get complete control over you. Isn't that great?!" He starts laughing.

     I turn to look at Liu, who is now at his side, expecting him to turn on Zalgo and come to my aid, but of course he doesn't. Why would anyone?

      Without warning, Zalgo charges at me. I manage to dodge the syringe, but end up falling on all fours. He raises his arm, ready to inject me, when someone jumps in front. I hear profanities being yelled, and look up. Liu has a syringe sticking out of his neck. He got injected to save me.

"Liu?" I ask. He says nothing.

"He can't hear you. He's a mindless being now. Now, Liu. I order you to kill Jeff."

       Without hesitation, Liu charges at me. I run away. I just run. I'm faster than him. I outrun him in a matter of seconds. I head back to the hotel room and collapse in the bed. I hear BEN ask questions like;

"Where's Liu?"

"Are you alright?"

"Don't tell me you drove him away!"

     God, his voice is annoying right now. I sigh, and grab my knife, then jump out the window. I'm SOOO not in the mood for this right now. I walk along the street, waiting to find my next victim. I see two young girls stumbling along, probably drunk. I smile. This will be fun!

Liu's P.O.V. (Surprise!)

      I'm sorry Jeff. I wish I could help you. But I can't. All I can do is sacrifice myself to keep you going. I don't know when i will see you again. I'm sure the mindless being controlling my body will. Just know my dear brother;

I will always love you.
